AFK not showing up while being afk

Hello, I been having a small issue with my Final Fantasy 14 where the Chair symbolizing the player being afk is not appearing in my computer. I couldn't find a solution for this. I checked the settings and tried verifying files. It has been an issue since I got the game. What is odd sometimes when I am away from my computer it will show but other times it won't show I am afk at all. What should I do to fix this issue? Is it my computer or is there some command or setting I have to change so It can always show my self AFK to me and my friends.

You can manually go /afk
And there's a setting to control auto-afk (none, 5m, etc.)

Maybe something is moving your mouse ingame/presses buttons - this would prevent autoafk

Check by going /afk manually if it turns off by itself

Adding onto what the two commenters above me have said, I think the default setting for your online status switching to AFK... is that you have to be inactive a LONG time before it switches. Something like at least 5 minutes. (Note: I haven't played many other MMOs, so I don't know if this amount of time is actually the norm.)
