Licenses - it couldn't be more difficult - is there a solution?

I bought the complete edition on sale. I ran the installer, created a new account and when asked for the key, I stopped the installation. I have not registered the key anywhere yet, neither through Steam, the installer or the website.
Because that's when I remembered that there is a trial version, no time limit. So I can test the classes and only then start the key and thus the 30-day subscription.
So I uninstalled the version and reinstalled it, but the trial version. And here's a surprise. It's still the same installer and it still asks me for a key. You can no longer install the trial version. Also, you can't add to the account via the web page, because it keeps asking for a key. And the trial version does not have a key. Failure.

Any suggestions if it can be unscrewed?

Thanks, but I've already tested that and it doesn't help. It only jumps to the login step and after logging into this new account it keeps asking for the key. There is simply no trial license. On youtube videos, an inscription informing about the trial license appears and the download begins. It keeps asking me for a key here.

Did you already link your Steam acc to the SE account?

If not, maybe have Steam remove the game from your library so you can start clean.

As far as I know, once you own the game on steam you can't use the steam trial on the same account anymore.

Running into same BS. what i am reading is once you buy from steam, they are suppose to send you a key to unlock full version on Square Enix webpage. some Mog station. Only long digit number i was given from steam was the invoice #, which does not work to unlock the full game.... So i have no idea. I bought something that I can't use. Why do I keep using steam, its nothing but hassles.

Edit: Found it. under the game's library page, go to settings cog > manage > CD keys

Thank you all for your help. I suppose the problem is at the Steam-Square interface. Even though Square doesn't know which version of the game I want to run (I have both trial and full on my account), it assumes it will be full and therefore requests the full code (while not generating a trail).

I'll try a refund on Steam. Assuming that only a trial will remain on my Steam account, Square should theoretically set up a trial license on it. Then I will be able to buy the full version again and WITHOUT entering the key, play the trial a bit and add the full version code over time.

It annoys me a bit that it is not explained in the description of the disappearance of the trial version. Then I would keep a different order, and so I was deprived of the opportunity to use the product that I had on my account (trial version). In a way, a product that I already had was taken from me.

To be fair the store page for the game lists the steps and where to find everything including the key. The first boss of the game is reading
