Hey, just wanna ask if i can own endwalker without buying the base game? Since the expansion is on sale, i want to buy it but i would like to keep playing the trial version before buying base game, is it possible?

You need to buy the base game in order to apply the endwalker expansion.

If you want to keep playing the trial version, you can buy the base game + endwalker expac but do not register the game code into mogstation until you are ready to go beyond the free trial.

BUT BE WARNED that you can't easily transfer your game account to the Steam version later. Although I've seen people saying it's possible, it takes some poking around to do so. I suggest you to look around this forum, I've seen this problem being brought up multiple times just in this month alone.

Site free trial -> steam paid version = OK.

When the time is nigh, just log in mog station, choose "register game codes" (or smth like that) and enter the code of the base FF14 you bought on steam. Voila, now your account is steam base FF14. Then enter the code of Endwalker DLC in similar fashion.

I dunno what is "not easy" about it.

Then you have to spread the word around, because every few days since I started playing this has been brought up again, and the one solution I remember reading didn't involve going to Mog station, but copying the save from one folder to another and stuff like that.

Wait, just saw the "site free trial", is it the same if i'm playing trial through steam?

If you purchase it on Steam, the activation key will give you 30 days to play without without needing the paid subscription, and after that you will need the subscription. If you download from the site, meanwhile, you get to play for free for as long as you want, only having to upgrade after reaching the end of the second expansion, or so I heard. Wherever you play, you can't go back to free play after subscribing.

I decided to start the game on Steam anyway because I play on Linux, and I rather just let Steam take care of all my Windows games for me.

If you're going to buy the FF14 game on steam. I suggest buying the Collectors Edition. When you link the steam collectors edition to your ENIX account, you'll unlock the collectors edition on all platforms.

To keep things simple, if you are playing the steam trial version, just get the full game on steam and register your code on mogstation. If not, buy the full non steam version on SE store or any reseller and register the code on mogstation.

Like SynC said, just stay on same plateform. You can buy the game now and keep playing trial, and whenever you are done, register the code to upgrade your game if i'm correct
