Anyone else not feeling any hype for the new expansion?

I have this problem since I finished the story of Endwalker, that I lack any motivation to continue.

The graphics are not going to change the issues the game has, which would require FF17 at this point by either upgrading or making a new engine.

As someone who'se played alot of open world pvp games, because in the end those zones usually devolve down to ppl getting ganked. It would just be tryhard FC's going in and killing people lower level to be toxic.
They could MAYBE make a zone like Bozja into an open world pvp zone where you have to hold sectors/bases for a war effort. But make this area completely optional with nothing major attached to it rewards-wise except extra loot.

On the subject of hype I'm hyped but also In my head I already suspect they're playing off the fountain of youth myth. We're going to the new world to find a magical portal (fountain of youth) that will give us the ability to travel between reflections. Thancred's scene really has me stuck on this assumption.

We're talking about maybe one or a few dedicated zones for it, not massive open world PVP. This isn't Dot Hack with their PKers and PKKers. XP

Honestly those people who just wanna cause carnage like that can go play another game entirely. That will never exist in this game, and that's not what's being asked.

They are asking for open world PVP zones, yes. That is exactly what's being asked for and they're tying it to what little story we know exists in 7.0. So yeah, they want open world PVP, which I know a number of people would quit if it became a mandatory zone you have to go through because we've seen so much of what happens in these games.

Open World PVP.... Yea, no thanks. You already have corners where you can punch each other in the face. Go there and enjoy.

Am not really hyped for this expansion. But that has more to do with how little you know about the story. Which is kinda a first for me after 10 years of playing this game.

Storywise I think seeing all the main scions together again after the "disband" just made me go meh to the whole trailer. I was kind a hoping for a fresh start with a brand new cast and maybe one or two old faces but now I have a feeling this will end up being like the plot of Stormblood but you know, more "tropical".

i'll probably buy it and play it but I don't see myself getting hyped like some of these youtubers are this week.

Then you should have watched what Yoshi-P had to say about them. He said, while Scions will be back, not all will agree/follow with us. They will be split and sort of fight eachother. Only throughout the expansion we will find out who is standing with us.

I what I heard is that they'll just be split into two or so groups for the "mcguffin race/contest" obviously they'll rejoin once the BBEG shows up

still in the end its the same faces again, maybe the 2nd trailer when it comes out shows someone completely new or something..(and no Erenville isn't enough at this point that is, if he actually stays)

squenix has been sucking resources away for ages now despite the game growing and that doesn't seem to be changing with endwalker's post-patch.

Contrary to popular belief, most of the staff of Creative Business Unit III remained to work on FFXIV during the entire development cycle of FFXVI from towards the end of Heavensward up until about late 2021 when there was a bit of a push to get things done and Yoshi-P diverted some of the available staff from FFXIV to help finish XVI in late 2021/early 2022.

I know a lot of people, myself included sometimes when I'm annoyed by Endwalker, like to blame FFXVI for it's lackluster status, but really very little resources for FFXIV was ever diverted to FFXVI. Endwalker sucks on it's own merits. Heh.

Honestly FFXVI might have been out during what would have normally been Endwalker's Summer 2021 release if both weren't heavily delayed by Covid.

It needs a new engine. Desperately. It feels like a <2010 MMO (makes sense), however compared to World of Warcraft if feels insanely sluggish. After touching Dragonflight again the difference is that massive it makes it harder to return to FF14 despite me really liking many aspects of the game, I also have 1k hours.

Botting/Cheating is a MASSIVE thing, you can literally bot your way through ultimate.

I can't speak about the content provided after the Endwalker launch, as I didn't play it, but I heard it is dry and lackluster. No idea if this is true though.

I doubt they'll change how formulaic their patches are given how successful their routine is, but it's getting pretty old. A new saga would be a good opportunity to mix it up a little bit.

I only log on to raid (and raid prep, like capping) nowadays. It's not because of the game, it's because of the people I raid with. Besides the story, this expansion was pretty dull for me. I want them to take risks and mix the pot a little, but I don't think they will.

It is very predictable what they are going to patch, this is true. I was just hoping this "new saga" would be called FF17 for some reason. I'm probably ending up buying the expansion and bury it for good. I do not regret playing it at all, but I think I have to accept that my journey is gonna end there.

iunno. i tried to return once to WoW ... and i fell ASLEEP!!!
do you know why? because EVERY SINGLE SKILL looks BORING!!!
it is true that WoW´s combat system might be faster but ever since i´ve started to play FF14 is WoW just plain boring for me.
tho, i am not hyped for the new expansion because ... if i would let this happen will i be probably disapointed. like it happens with every game which gets too much hyped. peoples get hyped up, then think it will be THE BEST THING EVER COMMING OUT ... and then they dont get what they expected. so, simply dont get hyped. another bad thing about being hyped is; it turns the waiting time into an ETERNITY!!!! so, just stay calm, dont expect too much. maybe wait what your friends say when it got released etc.
