Content drought is hitting *hard*.

It's by FAR the longest time between expansions, and the postgame for EW has been VERY lackluster.

Stormblood: June 20, 2017
Stormblood 4.5: Jan 8, 2019
Shadowbringers: July 2, 2019
Shadowbringers 5.5: Apr 13, 2021
Endwalker: December 7, 2021
Endwalker 6.5: Late '23
Dawntrail: Mid '24

Define "significant content", because 6.4 dropped in May with a new raid tier.
This is why its good to take long breaks. Not worth keeping a sub going for mini games and "meh' looking gear or whatever you're into.

I mean... we have 6.5 and there will also be 6.55 and 6.58 that'll introduce some minor things here and there. 6.5 will probably be October, which means 6.55 will probably be early December and 6.58 in January?

It's like this every expansion. There is usually about 4-6 months with no significant content updates before the next expansion. It's not like this is unique to FFXIV. Hell, you wouldn't find an MMO that has a shorter turn-around time from last patch to expansion.

Reminds me of much of the Endwalker hate. I'm no fan of Endwalker as a whole either, but so many people have whined about lack of content and it's such made up bullcrap. It's one thing to not like the content that was made available, but some people straight up lie and say there was none to begin with. The only significant content that was lacking was the relic. We knew we weren't going to get more Eurekan or Bozjan style content. Truthfully I was hoping to see a return to the grind a la ARR or Heavenwards relics, but oh well.

Even grinding for relics would have been better than what we got, imo. I really like the variant dungeons, but... Even if you take your time, you won't have content for more than a week. It'd be fine if the game was free to play, but it's not, and if you have a player house you can't really unsub if you care about keeping it.

Who knows. Maybe we will get more patches ? Meaning we could see 6.6 before 7.0 comes out. Like idk when 6.5 is coming out, but surely this year probably early autumn. I doubt they will leave us without stuff to do for nearly a year.

They said the Fall Guys collab (the FFXIV side, not the Fall Guys side of it, that's in August) should be sometime in September, so that would be when 6.5 should be.

Plus on top of patches between now and Dawntrail, we have several seasonal events, and they should make a big deal of this year's The Rising, as it's the 10th anniversary.

Im fine with it. Great games are releasing this year.

-Baldurs Gate 3
-Starfield
-Lords of the Fallen
-Armored Core VI
-Xdefiant

And some other games that i don't even remember now i have too big of a List XDDD
I played many MMOs this is normal inbetween expansions drough you get used to it :P

Don't limit yourself to 1-2 games or Style/type of games.

i dont know how long you play FF14 already but it was always like this inbetween expansions.

i didnt seen any other MMO either which does more content inbetween their expansions.
so, technicly is your so called "content drought" in every MMO like this inbetween expansions.

and to just say it, in every new .x patch got we atleast 1 new duty and 4 new raids and in addition to that new unreal versions of older raids and 1 week later opened savage for the new pandemonium raids. no other MMO can keep up with that. or, atleast i didnt seen any other MMO which added so much content dungeon and raidwise inbetween their expansions. and inbetween that tiny other things like updates for the island stuff etc.

There is no 6.6

Content drought is sometimes good. Players can go back and complete things they didn't have time to complete. Or just take a break and do something else.

Nobody is telling you to keep that house... And yes when housing is limited where less than 10% of game population has it... Its as simple as just unsub and wait for expansion.
