YOUR HOPE IS FRAGILE AND FRAIL. LEAVE THIS PLACE BEFORE ITS FLAME IS SNUFFED! THERE CAN BE NO HOPE IN THESE HELLS!
*coughs out a moth*
Sorry bout that, I accidentally swallowed someone that didnt agree with me. Welcome!
This is bs. It's more like 90% friendly or neutral, 5% harsh but fair, 5% genuinely a-holes. This myth about wow players being super toxic is perpetrated by people who go in expecting to be carried, the "toxic casuals". I played WoW for over 10 years on one of the most competitive PvP servers of EU and I have been kicked from a group or yelled at exactly 0 times. The MMO genre isn't as large as some people might think, pretty much everyone playing FF14 has played WoW at some point.
IT'S. THE. SAME. PEOPLE. Just in a different environment. The mythic+ system is the most toxic system in any MMO I've seen. Let's see how nice and friendly people stay if you lost an hour of your time when you wiped in a dungeon.
Yes or Yes? Sweet! You picked yes. Enjoy your Nintendo choice!
Me and someone else recently established a fun friendship over getting clears as a duo on certain Extremes and Savages. Well, we were attempting the Extreme Jade Stoa, and he had no clue what he was doing, and neither did I. That had to be the funnest hour of getting murdered ever.
Same couldnt be said of the person I was trying to do the clear for. They got somewhat frustrated and embarassed, but I kept on telling them that failure was absolutely fine, and that hed eventually get it with practice. Well, Tigerman decided to grab me, slam me into him, so we were both fine, but then he grabbed me again. The other fellow freaked out, didnt see the stack marker in time, and I, as a lalafel, got slam dunked into the floor to death, while I watched him flail around panicking while I was having a passout from laughing at the hilarity of being slam dunked by Tigerman. Once he was dead though, I congratulated him on being smart enough to catch my fall first time. XD
And then we went to go get murdered by other bosses, cuz he was absolutely done with Tigerman after that. We still failed. And at the end, he totally admitted hed had a ton of fun getting owned, even if we hadnt gone home with any loot. We plan to get killed again soon. XD
Edit: The names of the guilty have been changed or obscured to make them look innocent. Minus Tiger Man. Hes a Robot Master, so we all know hes guilty of robot crimes.
Your characters power progression isn't tied to said content. In WoW, mythic + is. Imagine if every time you attempted current savage content you had to do 2 normal savage clears for example.
50/50 is definitely true if you go enrage like that after my comment. You are in the "toxic" player category.
There are some really cool people I've met of course but for the most part it's just appalling the behavior of the players of this game...
I prefer the wow community for 3 reasons, the first one is that they are funny especially with humorous videos just the opposite of the ultra cringe videos of the ff14 community
The second reason is that wow players are honest in their toxicity and malice, unlike ff14 players who hide under a mask and make all the excuses in the world for their infamous and creepy acts like stalking.
Third, the pvp community of wow is popular and in spite of many problems is still active and interesting to many people, just the opposite of the pvp community of ff14, where no one cares about champions or championships in lives if it is not an infamous minority that lives in their illusion.
Again, this doesn't mean that there are no benevolent players on ff14, as I am one of them
but this urban legend that the ff14 community is superb while at the slightest criticism of the game or worse of the dev/SE team (because Japanese) you get insulted from all sides
And honestly? If you threw me into something like that now, and I died and had to go back to the drawing board, and my time was wasted, I dont think I would be too upset. Id simply say the same thing I said in my story: At some point, well get good enough to work with the big leagues. Failure, and patience is really the best teacher.
If you consider my post "enrage" then you're just oversensitive, and that 50/50 is in your own head.
FF14 has a massive female playerbase compared to any other MMO ever, so yeah, not much testosterone there.
Maybe it's because a big part of the playerbase just seems to enjoy hanging around and talking and doing content at a chill pace instead of fuming with annoyance and anger. I know the all-famous quote of FF14's community being the best ever before getting into this game was probably a bit excessive, but I haven't been proven otherwise just yet.
This is coming from someone who played WoW, where you will (often) get kicked within a single wipe even when stating you're new to the content. The amount of Tanks I've seen just votekicked due to the self-hating DPS being unable to control their frustrations and anger was really bad. This was even in the low-end content as well, funnily enough. Makes you wonder if people still play games for fun or just for reasons to boast about achievements in a virtual space.
