Account linked to steam says I don't own the game
I previously played the game on steam with a sub, I try to sign into the site but it says I don't own the game.

They should be able to get squared away with that. The login for the website is the same as the login to play the game. I recommend having your "friend" come and get troubleshooting themselves, because if they can't get squared away by logging into Mogstation, we aren't going to be able to diagnose from here.

If it's your friend's game and you tried to install it on your steam and log into their login on the launcher, you can't. Steam ID and account ID are linked. You can only log into the ffxiv account from the steam account it's linked to, and a single FFXIV account can only be linked to a single Steam account. You cannot use it on multiple Steam accounts.

It's a security feature. =) Makes it harder to steal FFXIV accounts.

I'd triple check that you are signing in with the right account. You can see the list of your characters if you sign in the lodestone so that's a good way to confirm.

previously you could play the retail version through steam, now you cannot SE likes their money you can't even own them both.

You don't own the game on steam you lack the mouse icon by your name as I do. You likely bought it from somewhere other than steam or on a different steam account. If you log into the mog station with the correct account you played with before it will show what you own in that terrible mess of an interface.

Because you dont have the game on steam. You dont even need to write the support, everybody see you dont have it.

Now im even more confused. You wrote "I previously played", not "a friend". Also why are you creating this thread instead of your friend? O.o
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
