Have downloaded this game but the launcher wont update?

Bought and payed for this game downloaded the game and when I press play it starts as you would expect and 1st pop up progress bar races to compleation. However the second progress bar only gets about a quater of the way and then an error mesage pop up pops up saying. Unable to patch files.

Any Ideas? have used 3 days of my free 30 just installing reinstalling cant get on the games website as you need a character and I have as yet not got past this error to even create the character. :(

Dude I just spent three days trying to fix a simmilar issue which involved contacting support teams from steam Square and my ISP. But when I was troubleshooting for a good 5 or so hours I fixed it with a click of a button. My situation was a Boot Error much like yours, so you should attempt what I did. I just went to my game folder for FFXIV and went into the boot folder and double clicked ffxivboot, and poof happy days.

Cool thanks for that. The actual reseloution for me was to go to every .exe file and run as administrator. Boom not had a problem since :)
