Can I play the healer class solo?
I'm so new to this game and I have a nasty itch to play a healer in an mmo game. I was wondering if it's okay to play healer alone? I have no friends that are interested in playing ffxiv unfortunately. please tell me I can do it lol

Yep!

No problems.

Every solo thing required, I've done as heals. Group content as a healer, you'll get quick queues and such.

You don't NEED a friend to be able to kill mobs in the open world or in FATEs. MSQ dungeons up through HW have duty support which means you can take it on with NPC party members. (There is a duty finder which I recommend using as a healer as your queue time is by far the shortest on average for any role.)

Remember that healers in 14 are expected to do damage when healing isn't needed which can take some time to get used to. It's different from WoW where healer damage doesn't matter nearly as much. Also in 14 you can also dabble in ALL jobs available on a single character! I main a WHM healer but I also do a lot of MSQ stuff as a PLD tank!

That is great to hear! I'm so excited for this. Some learning curve, challenging content and unique collectibles is all I need. I heard that the story is worth it too. I simply cannot wait for the downloading to finish.

Yes. healer is also generally the fastest queue (alot of the time instantaneous) so it'S a bonus to the role.

Imagine if that was an actual visual perk stat of classes. "Healers, S rank queue time. Tanks, A rank queue time. DPS, F rank queue time." Some people base their class on it, literally.
I've seen people do the Summoner/Scholar thing where they do Summoner for MSQ and queue as Scholar for faster queues

Yes, you can.
You chose Conjurer. You chose the best City-state, as the Leader is the best one (most balanced) one to choose. Yes, as a Healer, you can keep yourself safe and everyone else you want to aid along the way.

You can switch classes on the fly out of combat, so there is no reason to not level a healer AND a dps. In fact if you start as an Arcanist he evolves into a Summoner(dps) and a Scholar(healer) and even more importantly levels both at the same time!, so you can have the cake and eat it too.

The only downside is that Scholar is kinda ..complex, but by the time you leveled the Arcanist you'll realize just how easy it is to level, so it will be no biggie to level a more simple to play healer, and if you like the Scholar, well even better.
