FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

I have FFXIV on Square Enix account - Can I play it on steam?
Hi, I want to play with my square enix account on steam. Is it possible to link these two accounts so that I don't have to buy FFXIV on steam again?

No. Best solution is simply to add the Windows version launcher to your Steam library.

hmmmmmmmm recently they enforced account linking between steam and SE account. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/4c39f8a03713f8fcbab25ebf908c16837c5faaba
But i'm not sure if you need to pay for FFXIV again.

STEAM version and WINDOWS version are not compatible. You can have one or the other on a single account, since they both count as PC version.

You can set the client up to launch through Steam, as Alternity said, but there's no real benefit to it.

Thats.. not what that means.
This just means that people who had steam accounts now had to link their steam version directly to their steam accounts.
This also meant that you had to be logged in to said steam account to play the game.
Before the launcher just had to be steam related, so you could play on any account.

How do I do this? I only know how to add a game via game code to Steam.
Also, with this solution, can I play FFXIV on a steam deck?

For the Steam deck people recommend to use the FFXIVLauncher, especiallly for the Windows version. You will probably need to do a bit of tinkering to get the Windows version to work on the Steam deck but people have done it so it is possible.

The Steam Deck is a Linux computer, it does not prevent you from playing games that aren't on Steam.

There is no tinkering
You enable steam play with proton experimental and launch it. I'm playing from linux right now.
You MAY have issues if they change something in the launcher - this is why XIVLauncher is recommended. Otherwise you won't have any problem. I'm lazy and the official launcher have been working for months, so...

Thanks, i only remember that i had some issues with the launcher and i had to create a virtual machine to make this link possible with windows lol
Well...account creation and management is the hardest part of FFXIV.

I am talking about the Windows version, not Steam. There is something you have to do to get the Windows version to work on Steam Deck, it doesn't flat out work out of the box like the Steam version does, unless it changed recently idk.
