Should Healers Be Doing Damage In Dungeons?

Hi. I am a new player currently in Heavensward. I recently did a dungeon called the vault and I am currently playing a white mage. Up until this point I have only been healing because that is my role, but I was teamed up on by a dps and tank saying that I am trash and did no damage.

Do healers have to do damage in this game? If they have to I might just switch jobs because I am not comfortable doing damage as a healer, I just want to heal :( it sucks because I don't have much time to play but if I have to level another job for this I will.

Ofc, you need to prove intention, but i bleieve that "healers job is only heal, I won't do damage" proves enough intention to be considered griefing, and is not playing your class poorly because you don't know better.

There's a big difference between a healer healing a lot and not doing damage because that's all they can do, and this nugget stating that he won't because "healers job is only to heal so he won't do it".

That statement alone, is proof enough to get him at least a warning if made in-game, specially if it's costing people not killing the boss, and dying always at enrage.

Intention has to be stated, it can't just be assumed. Someone saying they only want to heal only proves that they only want to heal. Their intention is likely only to play the way they find the most fun, not to hurt the group.

It the Healer tells you in chat that he's intentionally trying to cause a wipe then you can report him. Otherwise you're just risking your own account by misusing the report function to harass people.

oh the very ToS that proves you cant ban a healer who doesnt dps i see thanks. go ask a GM that if a healer comes to a group and group leader does not say you have to heal/dps but then complains later why you are not heal/dps but person still heals.. is that person able to get banned for it? go for it, ill wait for the reply on that...

I have yet to be even warned in my almost 10 years playing this game, for kicking "healer only" kind of people from the groups.
People who come to any kind of content that require healers to do damage, and they refuse to do so, causing enrage after enrage, is considered griefing, as they're preventing people to advance in the content on purpose.
Granted that people prefer to just boot them and blacklist those idiots, but it's still griefing.

its not griefing if the leader has not told the healer they have to heal and dps. so again, go ask that GM the question i asked here.. you wont because you know you wont get the answer you want.

Kicking is fine. We're talking about using the report function to try to get a no DPS healer's account banned. Doing that is abusing the report function.

yes to heal. show me where it says healer MUST dps also.
