Question about preserving HUD layout between computers

Will backing up local game content and restoring it on a seperate computer preserve my HUD layout? Or will I have to manually reset it?

Yes there is a way to preserve it. And skill bars and armour sets etc.
Documents -> My Games -> FFXIV
In this folder there will be at least one, if not multiple characters. If you only have one character then this becomes easy, just grab a copy of it and apply it to any new computer. If there is more than one character you will need to figure out which is which. This can be done by changing something, like a skill bar or gear set and then seeing which character has had the appropriate file updated.

No problem. This is also a good way to get HUD/skill bars/macros the same across multiple characters if/when you choose to make a new one.

For the record I know some people who dump these folders in dropbox and use a file pointer to the dropbox folder. I think there may even be a section in the game where you can specify file path but not 100% sure on that.

Just remember to keep a backup on that Document and update it regularly because if you lose it...Have fun refitting everything and the Option menu.
