FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

"Unable to download patch files" Win 7 64 *RESOLVED*
Error codes [30413] [25008] [20495] always pop up when the patch hits 240mb of '2015.05.26.0001.0000' - screencap - http://oi65.tinypic.com/1qqqo5.jpg - spent the last eight and half hours trying to figure this out. Got 300+ hours in game so I know the thing works lol. Went through this whole list of 'fixes' with a support rep on chat; "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:

Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.

Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"

Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"

Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.

Please also make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED.
[SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]

"Run as Administrator"

Theenn~ we went to port forwarding etc...

▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040

Completely disabled Windows Firewall and all anti-virus programs

...still, no dice, same three error codes shown in the screencap. I'm at a total loss on what to do next, any advice would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!

Any free vpn you would suggest to just get through that patch? Searched quite a few and paying for a service to only pay for another seems ridiculous lol

WTFast has a free month trial. If anything using it will help determine the problem.

If it helps you may also find such tunneling apps actually helping your experience in other games too.

Also some free options:

Flush your dns Cache and change your dns to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Flushed/changed dns/sock, running 14 day trial of WTFast with avast and firewall off...exact same error at the same 240mb mark of patch '2015.05.26.0001.0000' ... short of a full windows reinstall, is there any options left? lol this is crazy, been mmo`in since Ultima Online year 1, never seen anything even remotely like this...just give me the damn patch SE wtf is the problem? -Thanks for the additional suggestions you two. -and the saddest part? I've tried to get past this patch in 240mb chunks (as thats the same point it stops/patch-fails each time) to see if I can 'muscle thru' that way...nope, no additional progress on the total download left. I just don't see the logic of the issue itself, all patches before it downloaded fine, what makes this one so special?

Its a user side error nothing on SE side. Your connection to the server is being interrupted or blocked.
Only other thing I can suggest is force windows updates and reset your router and modem by unplugging them for 2 min.
Maybe corrupt install... If it downloaded most of it well. May I suggest moving the entire install or deleting it and start a fresh install. That is if you have a decent connectionm leave it over night.

New development, every 'verify game cache' concludes that 44 files are missing, they re-download, second and third check are saying the same thing now, 44 bad files. o.O

Never verify files for this game. It will revert it back to an old version and you will need to download a huge amount of patch files again.

I'll make note of that. -but still puts me back at square one, it has to be something with this computer specifically because we did a full install/patch on my gf's computer (same room, same wired connection, same os), and it went off without a hitch.

If your girlfriend has the game just copy the entire FFXIV to your computer. Faster than a fresh install of windows and all your programs.

Definitely gonna try that next, wished I mentioned it earlier.

I had this problem with a friends install. After a few hours of trying port forwarding (which didn't make sense because it was downloading patch files to begin with, it was just failing consistantly) I just had her uninstall the game and start over. That seemed to work

Copy/pasting the whole game worked. I'm in awe. Well I suppose the only parts that really matter are the login info and account anyways, lol ridiculous. Thank you everyone for taking the time to help me through this mysterious problem.

I would believe that if I wasn't seeing many many people with same error. I am a consumer not a computer tech. I shouldn't have to mess with all this just to install a game I paid for. and SE tech help isn't very responsive.. maybe because so many people are inundating the tech help due to this problem.

Fresh install fixes issue 90% can guarentee, other 10% ISP or connection issue. dns, routing, ports...etc.
So the only conlusion is user end issue. If it was an SE issue it would be on lodestone Under Status with a pending status as they have done in the past with server issues. But its not.
Microsoft has been releasing some really sub par patches this year which I can almost guarantee you have caused issues for a large portion of those affected.

You your self say you are not a tech. As a tech I see the same thing day in and out people doing things to their computer that would harm it. No antivirus, disabled firewall, visiting scketchy sites, torrents, etc...
SE cant account for all this and the best help you are going to get is on forums to solve issues.

You paid for a game with listed requirements. If you cant meet those requirements then thats on you. SE is filling there end of the transaction and nothing more. The purchase of the game does not include computer trouble shooting support.
