Does cleric stance make an int based scholar viable?
So after some tinkering I'm pretty confidant on the playstyle I want to go with. I love the Arcanist and want to dabble in dps, and healing. but I've seen a lot of discussions on how to divide the stats.

But one thing I noticed that they were missing is that the spell cleric stance essentially swaps int and mind. So I was thinking why not use cleric stance for healing instead of offence? It would basically make int my healing stat as well when cleric stance is active

All your Healing Gear gives you Mind, you can't equip the offensive Caster Gear later. Also Cleric Stance decreases the potency of healing Spells, while incresing the potency of offensive spells. The Main Stat Swap is just another thing on top of that. The Items to change your 35 Points can be gotton for a really low amount of Grand Company Seals. So save some of them if you ever switch between SMN or SCH.

Afraid not, the stats you get to distribute as you level have next to no effect. The stats from gear are all for maximising healing.

Hmm... interesting. and a wee bit unfortunate but I think I'll try out scholar for a while then summoner and see which one I prefer. I don't exactly care for the idea of using respecs every time I want to change jobs.

Because that's not how it works. It switches around the numbers, not the effect of the stat itself. Cleric Stance is used for when you want to hurt things as a healer. It also comes with a 10% bonus to magic damage, and a 20% reduction in healing magic potency. If you try to heal in Cleric Stance, people will die, very very quickly. And you'll probably get kicked from the dungeon for even trying.

At high levels, the 30 or so stats you gain from leveling mean nothing when you're dealing with stats in the thousands. Don't forget that Scholar and Summoner, while they level together, have completely separate gear slots, it's easy to swap between an offensive gear set for summoner and a healing gear set for Scholar.

If you intend to focus on scholar, do not try to build int as cleric stance when activated cripples your healing power overall. The skill is designed as a way for mind based healers to have some offensive power, not the other way around.

"Cleric Stance: Swaps current INT and MND attribute ratings, while increasing potency of attack magic by 10% and reducing potency of healing magic by 20%."

ok good to know that the gear has more impact. I guess invest in mana then?

As I understand it, mind is the primary stat for SCH

The most benefiting stat for every characters is weapon dmg first, that is like 11 points of your main stat, in your case mind. The main Stat which just goes up with your Itemlevel. The you have sour secondary stats and piety is not good for scholars as they never have mana problems, espacially if the DPS with Energy Drain as their primary use for the Aetherflow Stacks. Whatever Secondary Stat you want will do it, you have Crit/Det/Speelspeed to choose from. And the 35 Points of lvl 60 do make a difference, thats like 30 ilvl for a Chestpiece or Pants Slot. And you get those Points for free anyway, so why not use them correctly.

If you ever plan on raiding with a Healer and want to do DPS, you have to meld every available Slot with Precision V Materia, as you would otherwise miss like 40% of the time.
