FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

(SOLVED)Forgetting your ID screws you over
Its been like a year since ive played Final Fantasy Online. My old laptop was super bad, so i could never fully experience it at 7 FPS lmao. But recently I decided "Hey, my computer is good, lets re-downlaod" Alright so i do that. Not only do I not rememeber my ID, I forgot my password. Understandable. Tried a few things i thought would work, but didnt. Contacted support, used my email i knew was associated with my account, and got a password change rather easily. The issue now was that I have my ID missing that there is almost no way in hell to get. The "forgot ID/password?" button only really helps with passwords. So I was like okay, you know what? Lets just make a new Square Enix account. Easy enough. I dont care if I need to start the game over, i forgot parts of the storyline anyways. I do so, but then it asks for my registration code, which i enter. Its denied because that code has already been used. I give up on that. I go to Squire Enix website and set up an account and attempt to add a product to my page that I own in hopes of transferring my game to my newly made account, but the registration code formats are various numbers and letters that are arranged in a way that I dont. (ex. XXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXX-XXX is a code format on the page but I have XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and it doesnt even attempt to work when i put in my code) Literally at a loss. I contacted support and gave them my product code as proof of purchase in hopes that they will be able to tell me my ID. However, this is literally so ridiculous, no other game I have dealt with has had this painful of a re-registration process. Ugh. Why in the flying **** cant they just email me my god-forsaken username/ID like every other game.

You can't re-register a CD-Key thats already been used for any game (some exceptions to the rule.

You be better off just ringing them and providing the information you have at hand, email, proof of purchase, bank card of the transaction ect.

Failing that as you know what the email address is for the account check your emails for any thing from FF14/SE sometimes they come with your login ID (it's how I remembered mine after 2 years)

Or you can just search your inbox for it.

Ive tried that, but it didnt work. Ive gotten confirmation emails saying "Your password has been changed (without divulging the password, ironically)" and things like that from a while ago but no email ive searched for has given me an ID.

Also unhelpful, their website specifically says that their email will send your ID, and a link to updating your password but every email I get, I see no ID anywhere, and only the link to updating my password. Ex:
(1) Access the Square Enix account management system
*[Square Enix account management system] http://sqex.to/YUH
    (2) Select "I forgot my ID/password" from the login screen
    (3) Enter your registered email address
    (4) An email containing the following information will be sent
      ・Square Enix ID
      ・Password reset URL
    (5) Follow the link to reset your password

The only mails I found including the ID where the Software Token Registration Mails (Subject: Square Enix Account - Software Token Registration Complete) and the Confirmation of the account creation (Subject: [Square Enix Account] Account Registration Completed).

I think it starts happening when you fail your password too many times, I also stopped receiving emails with the new passwords on them. Maybe they do it because they think its safer this way, or just changed policy recently. I would do as suggested and email them with your purchase receipt or real world ID to show them you're the real owner, set a new password and then write it down somewhere.

You're trying to log in without renewing your subscription. That's why it asks you for your serial number after you log in. Go into MogStation and renew your service account, then it'll stop. You're overcomplicating an issue by not fully reading the error you get that requires the serial number.

Also not to be a total jerk about this but I see this issue alot and it applies to literatly EVERYTHING now in life. Seeing as work places force most people to make accounts with the store to apply and work there as well as games to play them, it's a terrible idea to not memorize your information. Losing your ID/Pass is like forgetting your name and birthday. You can't figure out who you are if you don't know your name or password.

Yes I am aware that these things slip but I heavily suggest a flash drive or something to hold this information in notepad or something. I see alot of bad reviews on MMOs from players who lost their account information and blamed the devs for not giving them it back without any evidence.

Also goodluck on getting your stuff back. Seems everyone answered your questions. Remember you CANNOT update or sign into the game without your subscription being renewed via mogstation, where you can sign in.

Guys I cant renew my subscription at MogStation because I cant log into MogStation because I dont have my ID to do so. :') Even when I log in with my new account on MogStation, it still denies my attempts at renewing my subscription because the code has already been taken (by my previous account lmao).
Im not really interested in getting my stuff back, I dont care about my account getting lost I dont mind starting over. I just wanna play again.
Im not writing a bad review, i've played this game before and i loved it, but this is literally just a needlessly complicated issue tbh. I've tried literally every ID I can remotely think of, and nothing works. I typically do similar passwords for all my games so I'm completely mind boggled on why I would put anything out of the ordinary. (Maybe the ID was already taken at the time?)
p.s I synced up my steam account with my Square Enix account, and even then it doesnt show FFXIV as a game on my Square Enix account. Another failed attempt haha.

Hey question. You said you get it sent to your email, you check and nothing right? Did you wait 5minutes-24hours? I hate to admit it but I had this issue with FFXIV when I was putting my email instead of my username and did this whole thing thinking I was using the wrong stuff xD
Also not saying you do, but justifying what I was saying by stating that people who take this personally despite them forgetting their information.

Okay I have contacted their support via calling their NA phoneline, after previously getting a support ticket to do so:
The reason why I couldnt log into MogStation was because the ID is also interchangable with my email address (although it doesnt say this) so all this time I was concerned over using my forgotten ID to log into MogStation. Dude told me I could also just use my email as a substitute ID. I got into my account, and it showed me game ID at the top right corner (which was a unique ID that I dont normally use lol). When I tried to log into the game launcher, it locked my account, and he said thats because i successfuly logged in, but its through a new compter so the account is suspicious. I just have to go to my email, reset my password, and I should be good to go.

Ok this is great! I apologize for what I said, though I stick to "put your info somewhere only you can get it". Have fun in FFXIV :D
