how much ram do you have?

If it hasn't always done this and you live in the northern hemisphere, clean your fan

eta: I will elaborate:

the computer is getting hot

(this is likely because it is a building issue; the computer is cool when you start, but after you've been playing for a while it is heating up. your airflow is bad, which is PROBABLY just because your fan is dirty)

If it HAS always done this, reduce the graphics settings, particularly shadows.

This.

Especially if this issue is present in other games/programs of similar computer lode requirements.

They could always use core temp or the likes. Windows itself also has some temperature shown. A cleaning is good, too. Seeing this kind of data beforehand, that's even better.

Definitely not suggesting they go fire up another game simply to see if it's got the same issue.

But they may have decided to play another game while waiting for responses here and if they are having the same issues with that game (assuming comparable load), then it stands to reason it's the computer and not FFXIV specific.

Well, you're right. Still, if they don't know where the issue is from then just launching some game and checking core temp (for cpu temperature) or the performance window for info might give some data without the need to play for a long time. This is how I fixed my cpu.

Sadly, OP didn't really respond to ANY post here so it's hard to know if they did anything.

I'll try all this tommorow thanks for the advices

Do us all a favor and check back in, please! If something fixes it, please let us know what (especially for later google purposes for people running into the same problem!), and if nothing suggested works, please let us know that too so we can make further suggestions!

If your fan is super dirty you don't have to cop to it just say 'yeah it was probably hot it's fine now thanks' and blame the heatwaves or something

I don't recommend tools like checking the core temperature or things because most people just aren't going to know what they're looking at, what signifies a problem temperature, what's OK, and so on. I'm used to working with end users in a solution focused way that doesn't require a ton of education; nobody wants to learn about CPU temperatures, they just want their stuff to work.
