You would need to make a new account then or if you wanna keep the old one buy the game and sub.
I ended up ponying up the $20 to simply reactivate my current account..wasting anymore time trying to get their crazy registration system to work on a new account was no longer worth avoiding the $20.
Correct. It's a trial, not FTP pre-60; that means if you've ever spent money on the game, you are ineligible to participate in the trial.
This is because you're trying to use a SE platform version of the game on Steam. If you want to use your current trial on steam (keeping characters and things), google how to add non-Steam games to your Steam; you can use the launcher this way and it will track your playtime.
When it comes time for you to switch from a trial player to a paid player, and you want to switch, THAT is when you will be able to switch from SE to Steam (and it is the ONLY circumstance in which you can do this). You'll purchase your copy of the game on this platform, then use the Steam product code to upgrade your license on the Mogstation.
And while this isn't applicable in the current post, I'm going to make it clear for anybody visiting from google: In ALL other circumstances, Windows license and Steam license are INCOMPATIBLE. Doing this with the trial version does NOT mean that you can use your Windows license on Steam (except by 'add a non-Steam game'), and it does NOT mean you can buy expansions for the other platform and use it on your current one.
This ONLY applies to Steam / Windows; they are the only incompatible licenses. You can have ONE of them, then whatever combo of Playstation/Mac you'd like on top.
I had purchased the first two expansions and subscribed years ago. Because I had a sub at one point and/or purchased and activated expansions I wasn't eligible.
