But later on I saw Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I thought it was a totally new Final Fantasy MMO. It turned out that it was the same game only revamped; so I wound up buying it twice. Hence, the confusion it created with both Steam and Square Enix blaming each other. I did not want to deal with it anymore so I completely whiped out the Windows Account in hopes of a fresh start. I've dropped about $100 into this game. I'm not giving Squre Enix another dime until they fix this mess. It shouldn't be like this... they can blame Steam all they want but in the end it is Steam that drives their sales. It is their responsibility to make this game more convinient and less complicated to buy and subscribe.
If they want to be stingy about $15, fine but I can't play a game that so eagerly holds on to irrelevant change. I'm also a bit upset about paying $65 for an expansion.
To think people are complaining about No Man's Sky...
I'm asking why you didn't refund the ARR Steam copy you just bought.
Final Fantasy XIV Initially came out as just that, in 2010; I never bought this version on Steam.
Square Enix merged the Square Enix Account Log In Function with Steam; it initially would not work and I did not understand why it wasn't working when I contacted Square Enix. It's no mystery that in the intial stages of "DRM" (Digital Rights Management), gave Steam and several gaming companies tremendous issues in the past. As an example, my Anno:2040 game still won't work to this very day; because of DRM issues. Steam has since done well with cleaning up the madness DRM brought to their platform.
I later saw Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on Steam and bought it thinking it was a New MMO; It was the same MMO remastered. The rebooted version was released in 2013 as FFXIV:ARR; everyone should take special note that at no time was this game released as an expansion to the previous game. But it was in fact just that, a revamped... undercover Expansion to the 2010 Release.
I bought Final Fantasy: Heavensward (CE) which is a $59.99 Expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: ARR; this actual expansion I am currently subitting for a refund.
Anyone who bought 1.0 instantly got an ARR account. There's no special expansion or seperate purchase for it. These accounts are only retail because the game was not sold on steam originally, in fact, the game when it relaunched as ARR wasn't available on Steam till almost a year post release.
Not entirely sure why you injected DRM into the conversation.
You basically made a ton of assumptions without bothering to do a little research and caused your own problem here dude.
You're kinda acting like you've uncovered some massive conspiracy but you're just stating things we all know. Also... no, SE's login isn't merged with Steam at all. You can in fact use the retail launcher to log into a Steam based account or the Steam launcher to log into your Retail version. Nothing special was done here, it's just that MogStation accounts are not actually bound to a specific platform. Logging in on those platforms is where the liscences come into play.
Look, I will make this simple for you:
1. Refund Heavensward and ARR on Steam. Entirely. Forget that account, close it. This is a tangent you're insisting on going on that's complicating your life. There's no need for this. Go back. If you spent 69.99 on it, you bought the bundle with both ARR and Heavensward (as neither the game or the expansion as ever retailed for that price, ever), so I'm certain you can do this.
2. Restore your original account, which already has PC-Retail access to ARR. Purchase Heavensward via any place BUT steam. I recommend GreenManGaming.com as you can save 20% off the price there.
3. Log into that account.
4. Play.
5. Give the conspiracy theories a rest.
Next time research or ask questions on forums, others have been in your position with same situation on here. A simple yes no answer set them straight on how to proceed
Have a nice day.
Have a nice day.
Now can you please stop spreading your toxicity on this help forum if you don't actually want help? Thank you.
This topic is about a global challenge on the game policy that prevents the simple Transfer of Game Time. I don't care about the rules you keep repeating. We are the people. We decide what to accept and what not to accept and I am no longer accepting these: silly, absurd rules. I will not be alone on this and together we will change the game policy of these games. Even Electronic Arts gives a customer a reasonable amount of time to change things, Department Stores give a customer a reasonable amount of time to change things....
We will change this policy by simply not patronizing such companys that exercise such policies.
Furthermore, at no point did I say the game itself was garbage. I actually quite like the game. It is a fine game. But the Policies surrounding the game itself. They need to be changed because they wouldn't do this for anything other than attempting to hold on to their cash flows.
One would think this can be clearly seen since the subject Heading is clearly pointing at Square Enix and not FFXIV.
Why you're getting all choked up about the game is beyond me... I hope you love Square Enix as much as you love this game, because if you don't... you never should have respoinded in the first place.
