In the section titled Easy fix is a file to run that will enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2

I'm pretty sure you can install Win10 on that Pc. Your cpu released in late 2012 and Win10 came out 2.5 years later. You can either use the free version or get a key from ebay for like 1$. I thought you used Core 2 Duo or something.

i had for a long time windows 7 aswell. on my end was it not the computer itself, it was more that the gpu was fairly old and the ram which i had was not enough. i knew it wouldnt be enough for win 10. he said aswell its computer sided, not how much windows 10 is, windows 10 (because i looked it up back then) had not even worked with that gpu xD.

and my old pc was something tho ... only 528mb vram was an nvidia 210, only ddr2 4gb ram and i had a 2.3ghz due core. on my end was it impossible to go onto windows 7 3 years ago xD buuuut to be fair, i was not able to play FF14 with that either.

i got forced into a new pc because of DX10 end of support for most games. they plan to end support for DX 9 and 10 in patch 7.0 aswell. that they finally can improve graphics and are not longer restricted. so, ppls with older gpus will be affect around 6.5 aswell when we go the road to 7.0.

Upgrade from 7 to 10 and not need to do a side patch. You can still use your 7 key to activate 10. The "free upgrade" was a marketing campaign.

You can still hop from 7 to 10 to 11 (if possible) with just that 7 key. You can even save your key via 10/11 to your microsoft account so it's not a concern of losing the original case/card/etc with the serial.

TLDR, windows 10 is still free with your valid 7 key.

Don't worry too much about older CPUs. I have *first generation* intel i-series CPUs running windows 10 at work. They run it like garbage but they at least let people get the job done. There are still a couple boxes that are 32 bit and 4gb ram still around.

Just to confirm that following the information supplied, I installed the update, ran the easy fix and added the registry keys (don't default to disabled) for 1.1 & 1.2 as instructed in the linked page. Worked like a charm - at least so far.
As for why Win7 - I'm used to it, and I sorta understand it.

I just used the registry edits on this forum page, had to make some dwords but it seems to work, huzzah for registry!
