Got it going in SteamDeck -- now how to use abilities?

I am able to launch FFXIV in SteamDeck in Steam mode -- not in Desktop mode -- and I get into the game fine. Runs/looks fine. But, how do I press the hotbar buttons without having to use the mouse? Normally you press one of the triggers and that shows the options, but that does nothing.

I can select targets, I have the ability to move, all of that -- but I cannot get the controller button symbols to show so I can use only the SteamDeck's controller. I have the controller turned on in the settings. Thanks!

Switch from mouse/keyboard mode to gamepad mode in character configuration menu.

You rule -- I KNEW I was missing a screen. So, do you happen to know how to enter the password on the launcher other than scrolling down with the mouse? I start the game, it pops up the launcher, but the area to enter your password is down below on the launcher so you have to scroll down to enter it, then use a keyboard. Do you know if there's a way to scroll down other than using the mouse plugged in or connected?

XIVLauncher works a lot better than the default launcher on Deck.

Ah, not sure how I can get that. Right now I have to use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to scroll down on the launcher and type in my password. Once I do that, I can play the game just fine.

Password saving features still not being available on the official launcher is appalling, such as other features that should have been in game from the getgo. Being able to start the game with one click is such a massive improvement.

Looks like the launcher now allows login with having to scroll down. Did the FFXIV Launcher from the discover store and lost the ability to play it, so will mess with it some more. Looks like it was trying to install it on the SSD, but I need it on my SD.
