FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Old server vs new server for new player
Hi

I'm planning on buying this game soon and just so happens that Square relases 4 new servers for EU on 4th of July.

Therefore i'm left with little conundrum: Should I start playing on one of older servers now or should I wait for those 4 new servers, then start playing on one of them ?

I'm aware that ultimately it doesn't matter since I can both visit and play with ppl from other servers within the same data center. Still I'm curious which is better option for newcomer. Additionaly exp boost and the idea of starting the game with potentialy larger group of new players are alluring for me. All I want is to avoid seeing wastelands in every expansions' locations expect Endwalker's as I progress the main story...

New/low pop servers usually get exp bonuses to encourage players to join them, see if that will happen with those. Might be a good incentive to join it.

That's the main reason I'm considering playing on one of them. Additionaly I suspect a decent infulx of new player.

Unless you're planning to level up multiple classes from the start, exp boost will be absolutely irrelevant to you. Class abilities are getting level locked behind MSQ, so until you finish A Realm Reborn, you won't be able to advance your class quests past lvl 50. Then you won't be able to advance past lvl 60 until you finish Heavensward. So on and so forth.
By the way you should enter a recruit a friend code before you pay for your first month subscription, its a nice head start and some people will actually pay you gil to use their code (they get gold feathers for a mount and some other items)

So friend code won't work on my first free 30 days ?

I was actualy planning on leveling few jobs(2 healers,3 DPS, 2 Tanks). The job I'm the most intrested in is from one of the expansions.

Also I noticed that you're crazy overleveld while doing MSG (base game so far at least). I'm not so worried about leveling my main job but rather getting tired of leveling other jobs.

It will work for that, it stops working after you buy the first month of membership, whether that is after the free 30 days are up or not.
