Blue Mage's design is ridiculous

I'd "main" BLU - inasmuch as anyone can main a job that can never reach the cap. I'd be happy to do all the grinding; all the skill locating; the carnivale - everything. I'm even fine with restricting myself on current content.

But I'm stymied - no, simply outright blocked - from doing so by the means in which a full eight tenths of the abilities are attained: in synched dungeons, which I, of course, cannot queue for.

That leaves premades. The problem with that is, I don't ever see BLUs looking for group - maybe I play at the wrong times; maybe I'm not looking in the right places. But I'm not seeing them. Ultimately, in order to be a successful BLU, you're going to need other BLUs with-which to do those synced dungeons... or a VERY supportive guild. I'm not in a guild, though... and, if I was, I cannot imagine imposing on virtual strangers (or even people I had known for, say, a few months) to run the necessary dungeons to get the abilities this job needs.

Because, this isn't just asking for a favor... or two... or, even, five. This is asking for like EIGHTY FAVORS - some of which may require repeat clears and even wipes (several of the abilities will only be cast if you fail mechanics on bosses). And I'm just not that kind of person - I cannot be that way to people I barely know.

What's even stranger is that almost all of BLU's utility is solo in nature - allowing you to clear fates and some raid content by your lonesome in record time. Yet, to get there, you need to have a ludicrous level of support. And I just can't ever see myself having it. And that's a real shame.

I'd say it's much easier gathering 4-8 BLU's for a dungeon/boss than it is organizing a Baldesion Arsenal run, yet those still happen. Discord is very useful for arranging such things if you don't have enough willing friends.
But yeah, it's super optional side content at the end of the day that people have already completed and moved on from and interest has long died off from being able to jump into any duty at any time with other BLU's.

Nobody is trying to start a fight here except you and your obvious off-topic flame bait response about sucking at the game. You really should stop doing that, as that really is a reportable/ban worthy offense.

As for the OP, I hope the time I took putting that informational post together will help them see that playing BLU solo is not impossible, and rather quite fun and challenging.

Around 85-95 of the current 104 BLU spell can be attained solo.
I know, because that's about what I have (87), and I have no spell from doing duties in group. And I still have several that are doable solo that I haven't done (there are videos of these boss/dungeon being soloed by a BLU here and there so I know it's possible, but they take forever for no guarantee of getting spells), though these last ones are pretty tedious to do solo so not sure I'm not going to group,

You can totally get the spells from unsync'ed, it just won't be 100% chance, so you may have to run it for a while. I think the worse I had was Shiva Ex that I had to run around 15 times solo at level 60 BLU before I got it. It's not that bad, especially since I got the mount (and a few other sin other Ex) while doing it.

that's 8/10th of the abilities attained WITHOUT needing to be sinc'ed, not the countrary.

Also there are large FC that organize BLU groups and BLu raids, as well as discord servers that organize BLU stuff as well. You may want to look into these to enjoy BLU groups.

BLU is literally a solo monster in group content. The only content that is difficult to get spell for is your own level group content as well as a few level lower than you 8 peoples content. That's it. Everything else is soloable.
Almost all the level 50 8-players content is soloable as soon as you hit level 60 and equip yourself in tome gear. The only exceptions being thornarch Ex and the last 6 Coils, which only becomes solable at 70. All level 60 content but the Ex and the last half from Alexander are soloable at 70 as well.

Typically, most 70 and below dungs and trials can be soloed by a BLU, this is --exactly-- why they are a 'Limited Job' because if the BLU is smart, and they congeal all the right spells/skills together, they are a power house to be reckoned with.

Yee, also that Blue mages can learn a really large chunk of boss special skills at the end of dungeons, Titan, Shiva, Ramah, (pretty much all the major ones) even that DOOM spell that just gives the enemy 15 seconds to live.

The class is incredibly broken and "fun". You just need the time and patience to level it up.

Just open a PF, you would be surprised on how quickly blu pfs fill. If its really low movement in ur server then wait a little and level other jobs, soon well be getting lv80 content then blu will rise once again!
Also, theres blu discord servers for datacenters so everyone can organize stuff, search for The Balance server then u can find almost everything from there!

BLU was never my thing but I gave it a proper try at the end of Shadowbringers. Despite being late to that party, I saw plenty of people in PF looking for each particular skill -- including full-teams for things like Coil achievements -- not to mention the presence of dedicated BLU discord servers, which I never joined but knew they were there.

On the few occasions where I made a PF lobby instead of waiting to join someone else's, I never had to wait very long, and there were even people who would pick out BLU lobbies purely to help with it even when they didn't need the particular skill, funnily enough.

Still, I grabbed a hefty chunk of them myself Unsync'd, such as Ifrit's flaming AoE, Mog heal, and various other 50-dungeon skills that I forget. I only really started joining PF when it came to Stormblood content, like Seiryu, etc.

If you feel "outright blocked", then you aren't looking or trying hard enough in what is meant to be PF content. Reminds me of vanilla WoW dungeons, where people were expected to manually form groups and travel to the locations on their own funds back when summoning stones weren't really a thing. These days, people expect instant teleportation and instant party-finder to do the work for them.

the story is great and all, but I have 2000 hours and eventually the overall game play becomes very dry. It's just simply not fun at some point. and when you want something you have to go through some really big grinds or rely on others to get you through something. This wouldn't be a big deal if the gameplay in the first place was actually fun. It really isn't. Every class feels the same, I mean they're basically just the same combat system with little differences between them. Trying out new classes works for a bit, but then you're bored again. When you're playing the MSQ it holds its own because you're there for the story, but let's be honest the actual gameplay does suck. I think I'd rather play BDO and enjoy their amazing combat but also suffer through the rediculous grind than keep playing the monotonous repetition of ffxiv's gameplay. And that's saying a-lot because BDO grind sucks.

BLU is an MMO project. It was intentionally designed to be a time killer. It is not part of the main game and it doesn't matter how long it takes to finish the entire spell log. Why are we still talking about this in 2022?
