It's the first portion of this game, but the second iteration of FF14, which was a completely different and separate game.
I don't know why people say this, I've been through ARR multiple times and never had any problems.
Which is...not true, or at least an extremely simplified version of events. ARR is a completely different game, built from the ground up, with the story continuing 5 years after the end of 1.0.
I don't think your friend gave you an accurate summation of the game's history.
ARR is actually 2.0.
I recommend looking up the series "The Fall and Rise of Final Fantasy XIV" on youtube. It covers the history of FFXIV and how bad it was to the point that the entire Final Fantasy franchise was damaged and how ARR fixed things and only improved from there.
It's not even that bad as some of the veterans make it out to be.
The difference is is that ARR has to take upon itself the world building and character establishment so we know who is who, what is what and why it all ties together. It takes its time to set things up so the heavy bits hit hard, the moments of levity feel earned and appreciated and the characters growth can be established.
Everything after ARR makes use of the world building ARR took the time set up and can have a faster paced story as a result because the world has already been established, its rules made known and we have gotten to know the characters by then.
I think part of the problem is exactly that, people constantly hear and are told how much 'better' Heavensward gets, so people are going into the game with an already biased opinion on ARR. They want to get to the 'good' parts and skip all of the 'bad' parts.
ARR has it's rough edges, but at face value it is completely playable with lots of fun to be had.
Agreed. I wasn't calling you out specifically, just wanted to be clear.
but endwalker quests that you can walk and talk to npc was a nice touch so it is a few points for square enix on that
I have read most of your replies. Sadly, few of the fanboys, if any, addressed my comments directly and did what fanboys do, resort to attacks ad hominis rather than make a clear or valid statement to refute mine.
The most common answer includes, and I'm just paraphrasing: 'I feel sorry for you' or 'Your life is bad' or 'Something is wrong with you' or "uR PrOFiLe iZ pRiBatE, WhaT rU hiDiNg?'
All of them could be true, or not. But the issue still stands. FFXIV is an overrated game made 'great' by people with too much time in their hands and not enough critical thinking or a hint of independent thought. If you want to feel sorry for someone, I'd start by looking at the mirror followed by a thorough re-examination of my life.
An obvious bait.
Was it really that bad, seeing people not being salty about the thread, that you had to try to move it back on the track you wanted?
Obvious bait? It's nothing of the sort. It's a statement of facts.
Any of you being salty is something I care little about.
This is flame bait, nothing more, nothing less...
If you're really that desperate for points, just tell me, and I'll give you a few so you can leave them alone speaking about what they want.
What just happened?
Alright, I'll give you this. If, indeed, my whole purpose was making the fanboys salty, well, you just fulfilled this 'need', however unaware you're of it.
Like I said, lack of critical thinking.
I'm not sure what Steam points or what you can possibly use them for (eat them in a taco, maybe?), but feel free to drop as many as you like.
Cheers, mate.
P.S. Please relax and don't burst a blood vessel in your brain.
