How does the housing lottery system fully work?

How does the housing lottery system fully work? I have looked high and low everyone is saying you just throw money at the placard and wait. But that's not how it's seeming to work. I am sitting here waiting at a house or did earlier this morning for the "Results Period to end" and when it 'ends' it just cycles over to a brand new date about a week from what it was originally. Anyone able to explain this truly odd system?

Like the link says this is basically how it works now in cycles of bids then a claiming phase then next round of bids and repeat. Earliest you can bid on a house seems to be May 26th so find the house you like wait till 26th go to placard place bid then after 5 days see if you win it and claim it during the 4 day claiming period.

Next Lottery Cycle
Once we have confirmed that data restoration was successful and everything is operating as intended, the housing lottery will resume.

The next lottery cycle will begin on Thursday, 26 May at 15:00 (GMT) / 16:00 (BST) / Friday, 27 May at 01:00 (AEST).
It will have a typical 5-day entry period and 4-day results period.

Well you said, that the result period is changing its ending date over and over again so I simply provided you the information on why it is changing and when the next lottery cycle will commence. The link also covers the basic info on how the system works. You have the lottery cycle in which you can bid and you have the result cycle in which you can claim your plot or get your gil back depending on if you got the plot or not. Pretty much everything explained in the link. No offense but I assume you didn't read the contents...

1. SE Will announce the date(s) of a New Housing Lottery. (You have 5 days after the announcement to "claim" your plot)

2. During the Lottery week, you will want to visit the Housing locations for open land plots

3. When you see a plot available to purchase, click on a Placard and "make your Gil deposit".

4. Write down the Land, Plot number and your lottery number and keep it somewhere near your computer.

5. After the 5-days are up, we enter the "Lottery Results" period.

6. During the Results Period, you will have 4-days to check & claim your plot (assuming you've won the lottery). In this period, visit the plot you made a deposit on and click on the Placard. The results of the lottery for that piece of land will be show.

7. <Results Period cont.> If your lottery number match, You've WON. Claim and enjoy your new plot. If your lottery number does not match, you will be refunded your Gil deposit.

8. If You missed the Results period, Win or Lose you forfeit ALL. You will not get the property AND/OR you will not get your Gil Deposit back. (This is why you will want to write down the exact plot location, dates, & lottery number ... to visit during this time to claim the land if WON or receive your Gil deposit back if LOSS.

9. This lottery period is over. Wait until SE announces another lottery dates & repeat these steps all over.


As I write this, the next lottery cycle will begin on Thursday, May 26 at 8:00 a.m. (PDT) .
It will have a typical 5-day entry period and 4-day results period .

He's kind right it only works for personal houses FC houses are rigged towards rich players since you can bid more than one time for the same house, a single player can bid up to 8 tickets in one account while new players even with an active FC will probably have no chance to win and i say that because thats how i get my house in the first auction i had 7 of the 10 bids in one of the mansion slots in Ishgard, i cant mention names here since its against the TOS but just take a look on the housing area in your server and you'll find Ghost FCs that got houses and they will probably sell them since its possible to FC ones

Failed to get a house with a 1/3 chance back when ishgard was out, not liking my chances this time with almost 10x the bidders so I'm just standing by to collect the refund money

same, I didnt enter the first round as I didnt want an Ishgard house, waited for plots in other districts to come up so I entered this time and I just know I won't win, I don't expect to, RNG is never on my side,

Won't be too bothered though I already got a house, a small one, just wanting to upgrade to medium and I know I will never get the upgrade as long as I play.

It's like how scratch off tickets work, usually a scam in the end. At least with this scam you get your money back.

The whole housing system here is absolute garbage. Every single mmo i have played before i had a house that i got without having to spend hours upon hours just finding a plot and then if you are really lucky, win it in a f**kin lottery.
And lets not forget that you have to subscribe and log in every 30 days for as long as you play, `cause if you don`t it will be automatically demolished.
