Probably gonna get a lot of "might be time to pack it in, then" replies. Wouldn't say I disagree. A lot of people will also probably say Shadowbringers is the peak of the game but...
This is key. If you aren't having fun yet you probably aren't going to, and that's okay.
Depends on you, honestly. If you enjoy playing with others more than playing solo then you're obviously not going to have as much fun solo. I personally don't care either way and have fun doing solo roulettes and such.
Also kinda funny that you like the PvP when it's traditionally been the least popular aspect of the game.
Dont fall into the trap of 'It gets better eventually.' Just because Moby ♥♥♥♥ got better at the end, doesnt mean its a story worth reading. That said, this is an MMO, the social aspect is a major part of what keeps alot of people here. I know I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for my friends basically begging me to play this game.
I know ARR hit me like a college hazing ritual, and the story has since left me critical of whether or not it is actually good. So far, up to Shadowbringers, Ive settled for 'its not bad, but mostly generic.' Take that how you will.
Sounds like the game aint for you mate, just move on. Why keep playing a game you dont like? I presume no one is forcing you to play lol
The most enjoyment I've had in this game is grinding up jobs either in dungeon finder or just monster hunting. The combat is great and the only reason I haven't given up. The story in MSQ is nice when things are actually happening - TBH a lot of the time the plot s too slow - but the quest design is appalling. 70% of the quests could be deleted and nothing meaningful would be lost.
I don't mind doing chores in the early game to familiarise myself with the environment, but when I'm a few hundred hours in and I'm still doing chores something is wrong with the game design.
I was absolutely not interested in the story, like, since the beginning of ARR, but because of everybody telling the story is great, I felt like I'm broken and wasn't having fun like you are. The story seemed to be the typical "good cool guy defeating bad cool guys one after another cuz ur good and thei r bad and sheet", so i just started skipping everything and speedrunning though MSQ and i actually began to enjoy the game much more. Like, everything besides the story (and PVP probably imo, but you seem to enjoy it though) is great - Dungeons, Trials, Raids, Housing, The Community, all the stuff.
I got 1400 hrs now and i'm still loving it, so maybe you should just try to forget about the story and pay more attention to other things. Or the game's just not for you lol, it happens as well...
