Steam Bows
Steam punk style bows as seen on the bow channel on you tube would be nice. They used a compound bow and put a little magazine for the arrows so it can auto load and fire faster. The device even helps steady the bow and a laser sight boost accuracy. And the spring driven cross bow was very compact. I wish you had fantastic modern style bows in ff 14. And cross bows. It would be nice to carry over the technology and aesthetic of bows and weapons from the real world to ff 14. The look of a cam system and pulleys on bows is a nice concept. And seems a bit more steam punk style. Sure the magic tech bow exist but when you have seen the bow channel all the bows on ff 14 just feel overly fancy and all show rather than any real amazing features. The Cross bows with the cams and inverted styles are very compact anymore. Even the Spring driven crossbow had pulleys that use the force from coiled springs in the sides in little round cans on the sides that made it look super compact.

The servers are busy this week. I also like how the bows are made in real life and the crafting Vs FF!4. You have maple and ash and elm in ff14. But in real life you also have yew and laminated bows where different woods are used to make a bow.

FF always was about magic and fantasy. And then you have, uh... What mayor pointed out. Edgar in FF6 also used a machine crossbow at one point or another. There is ALL sorts of mechs and magic in FF. This is what the games really are always about. At least as I see it.

Good point. I just wasn't seeing that in ff14. But the wood bows did not use some of the techniques that made composites of wood for bows that may have better dps. Bow woods affect dps. https://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/bow-woods/

The science meets lore and magic and fantasy. I see no reason why magic can't craft materials while using science for the best possible wood or combination of wood or parts to make a better bow. Why not both?

Oh but that's a legit argument. I mean, magic IS used with science in FF14. What did you think Magitech is? FF universe also has magic wood but this is part of the natural element of magic of the world. Mages can also use mechanic staffs or wands too. It's actually a thing.
True. But science the heck out of bows would be fun too. Besides the server was full up just about every time I post here. https://odinsonarchery.com/composite-bows-weapon-of-ancient-nomadic-equestrian-cultures/

Realistic weaponry is, in RPGs, almost exclusively reserved for lower levels. At higher levels, IE, where we're at now, expect wilder and wilder designs. It's Final Fantasy, not Final Science.

Maybe Metal and rubber and pneumatic pistons and pulleys or cams with waxed strings of hemp could make science bows that rival magic ones. The mechanical advantage of pulleys on a 300 pound tension spring or two 150 pound pneumatic springs could make a bow that would easily pierce a inch piece of particle board or half an inch of plywood.
