FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

The addition to "Duty Support" concerns me a bit
for anyone out of the loop, "Duty Support" is a new feature coming on 6.1 that allows you to fill dungeon/trials with NPC's instead of a party of human players(which you can already do with grand companies for dungeons, but that takes some grind, and its meant for people to farm dungeon items for the most part).

this concerns me a bit, is yoshi-P doing this because he believes the good will of people doing older content with sprouts or newer players will eventually run out?

is this future proof? so new players can do old content since nobody else would be there for them? cause if thats so i think this is would be a very foolish reason as i see people doing old content all the time, mentors and duty roulette already fill this gap.

is it for players that want to experience "FFXIV online MMOrpg without the "MMO"? or maybe ppl with extreme social anxiety, to even try a group at the start?

in my honest opinion, i think the real reason for this is to aliviate leveling up DPS classes at the beginning, as they are the only category of class that get 15+ minute queue times when doing anything at the duty finder. Right now you have to spam POTD/HoH,Leves and hunting log and its extremely painful to do so.

but thats just my hot take, what do you guys think?

1. Some people are not comfortable playing with others. The reason can be one of many:

a) Some people have performance anxiety when playing with others,
b) Some people are afraid of dealing with angry/toxic players,
c) Some people just do not feel comfortable playing with others/groups of people (extreme introverts).
d) Some people want to go at THEIR own pace.
e) Face it, most of you people are just that bad. A bunch of random, brainless npc's probably would perform better.

2. Some people want to experience a map by themselves first before going in a group. That is especially true for tanks since people usually expect tanks to hold everyone's hands. Knowledge of the dungeon is kinda important, and not having to always rush and not be able to have a thorough look at the map because "experts" are rushing ahead annoys some people.

3. DPS queue times. Some people are just that impatient or do not have the time to wait and insist on dps'ing (mouth breathers).

4. Yoshi P openly said he wanted a bigger crowd to play FF XIV and the crowd who isn't playing the game is mostly people who don't like the MMO part of MMO rpg. Basically, he wants to make the option of the game being a ORPG or a MMORPG depending on what the player wants.

I did all but 1 dungeon with trust in EW. I don't see the worry. People still want their daily roulette rewards or fast runs.

wasnt there more story dungeons after the ultimate weapon like steps of faith ect do they plan to change those aswell or ?

Duty support is only for story dungeons. Optional ones still require a group.

Nothing wrong with new options assuming they are well executed.

Also, a lot of people have asked for more solo features.

My concern is that they spent a bunch of dev time on this while there are many areas of the game that would need it much more - the dreadful housing situation, new minigames in the Golden Saucer etc.

Steps of Faith etc are trials. Snowcloak and Keeper of the Lake are the story dungeons.

You mean the housing situation they are literally changing in this patch?

Don't see a problem since it allows them to progress the story and it is only story based content.

They still going to need to group up for optional stuff such as end game and side dungeons.

It's setting up the game where they can repackage it down the line as a single player rpg after the servers go down.

It's also ignoring we've seen a full revamp of pvp with this patch.

Soooo much tinfoil in this thread, lol. They have been really transparent, nearly explicit about why they're making this change, and there's no business reason for them to lie about it.

It didn't really have a negative effect on ShB and EW so I can't see it having one on ARR either.
It remains to be seen, though. My main concern is you will have players progressing through to HW with no interaction with others, committing bad play styles to muscle memory with no-one to observe and learn from.

Im finding it a nice feature to practice classes i never tried before what would u says the hardest melle class outta monk, dragoon, samurai and ninja ?

MMO with NPC be part of yout party sounds so bad for us as humans...
I am new to the game, and have some frustrations in some dungeons... but more frustrate me that a solution should be some "bots"...
Nice to have more options/solutions... but i hope the solution come from us, and not from NPCS... (Lets make a FF14 a Singe Player with no subscription) LUL ...
