The people who just sit in Limsa Lominsa...
Just a question regarding the players who you see just ... Loiter in LL for days, not seeming to move or change their position at all..

How do they do this? I get auto-logged out if I'm AFK for a while. I mean, given the server capacity issues, shouldn't this be somewhat discouraged?

As far as I'm aware, sitting in one place isn't against the rules. :cuphead:

It isn't, but the question is how they seem to remain logged in despite the 30 min auto kick timer.

to answer that are 2 possibilities:
1) They sit in Limsa while writing in company and linkshell chats, just chilling and relaxing.
2) they got a 3rd party program running keeping them logged in.

for an outside observer there is no real way to distinguish between the two, but the 2nd one should absolutely be a temp ban offense.

There will always be people lurking. Thankfully, since around the time where they opened back up trials, queues have been 50 at most, rather than 2000-5000 on my world. So whatever they have done to consolidate that (im sure other games like Lost Ark and Elden Ring) have helped with queue times) have largely fixed that.

Im not sure what DC/W you are on, but if the capacity is that bad, then im not sure. There are of course some people that just log in when there is no queue/volume and sit there, im not sure how they do it, but yea.

Loitering isnt expressly against the rules, using 3rd part programs to do so is. But thats an issue for SQE moderation teams to sort out

Report, SE doesn't really care. They don't take care of the bots leveling up even though their modus operandi is figured out, so I wouldn't hope for any worthwhile results.

It seems bizarre anyone would use a program to keep themselves logged in so they can sit in town doing nothing. To be clear, I'm not complaining about the loitering and every MMO has places where players congregate to stand around and look pretty, but I was just curious how they weren't getting kicked for inactivity when they seem to always be there for days in various states of undress.

Do you want to know the reason why they do it or want to know how they do it? I can answer one of these questions.

its aswell already enough to either just tabbing back into the game or just moving the camera to avoid the auto kick. everything which ends your AFK mode resets the timer.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm not entirely sure why some people are so concerned about how others spend their time ingame. :cuphead:

"Oh, those groups of players are just sitting there menacingly?! I bet they are using a third party program, not paying their taxes, stole from cookie jar, forgot to clean their room, ect.. We got them, call it in."

i think you dont get kicked either if you leave mid conversation of npc, or right clicking market board or aetheryte with the menu up, or at least what ive read somewhere

If they aren't getting kicked for being afk then they are more than likely speaking in various private chats.

There is seemingly a lot of people that just use the game as a chat room, which is fair, it's a pretty chat room. I like playing the game, but I can see why people would just hang out while they're in discord or something

I know this isn't what was being mentioned, but this made me think back to when I had a character that got temp perma logged in to a game. Back when Asheron's Call 2 first came out I had just made it to level 17 and was in town and got disconnected. When I tried to get back on it told me my character was still logged in. I waited, a while, and still could not get back on so I rolled another character and when I logged in I found my original character was still standing in the middle of town like a statue. It took them a week or two to figure out that glitch. Other people had the same problem, and you could see the characters just standing there. Fun stuff.

You seem really offended about this.

Maybe they are waiting for duty finder or organising their bags and only look like they are AFK
