FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

was thinking about getting the Lv 80 Boost paid service.
but i'm not sure what class would be an ideal choice, mainly cos iv'e been away from the game for quite a few years.

i was thinking black mage, or Archer, but i'm not really good at playing a support type role, which i think is some of the archer's Kit, and black mage doesn't seem to be all that complex.

anyone else purchased the service that they can give some insight as to what would be some ok choices, ( minus a healer type tole or a tank role )

also taking into account the crypt lurker set, that's supplied with the 80 boost.

Black Mage is the hardest job to play WELL. Anyone can play any job poorly. Every job is simple if you're above the mental age of 12, but playing them *well* is not the same at all. That comes from experience and practice.

Your choice of job shouldn't be based on what's "good" or "hard to play" but what playstyle do you like, that's where the choice comes in.

RNG based? Busrt based? Steady DPS based? Long combo based? Mobile?

If you been away dont boost just play normally and have it at your own pace so you can get your bearings with keybinds and basic rotations, the leveling process it really fast anyway and gear is pointless since you can get the crafted sets really cheap, the lvl 80 is ilvl 515 while the cryptlurker is 530, stat wise that's about +5 in main stats and +4 for substats, but if you intend to boost anyway check for job guides and see which job you enjoy more its hard to recommend one because at end of the day thats a matter of personal choice and in the current expansion i'm in love with all 3 casters XD

I don't recommend boosting at all...

However, I will say that Bard (Archer) is a pretty solid choice for a first class. Don't worry about the "support" aspect, because it's still a DPS class, and the songs are a part of your rotation anyways. Ranged physical DPS jobs like Bard (Archer) will feel very good because of the freedom of movement, positioning, and instant cast abilities.

Id say boost only stuff you already know and if you decide to boost do please take time
at training dummy to set up skills right and read them i know this sounds trivial but 80 boost is quite jump and game wont really tell you single -fart- regarding jobs specifics or details at all.

If you played before like boosting DPS when you played DPS (xept black mage as said above reasons) or TANK when you played TANK not much has really changed than sure go ahead.

In the end its up to you just take it easy train bit on training dummy get to feel of the job and you should be fine.
Also that -crypt lurker set- is really not to difficult to obtain.

As for it i used that service yes on alt character to get warrior to 80 along with story skip since i already lvl gunbreaker and paladin getting into lvl 80 warrior wasnt much of difficulty since the jobs are same in general aspect.
Last thing to consider is if its really worth for you to buy it since boosting tank or healer is probably less worth than DPS (thanks to dungeon wait times >.>)

I wouldn't recommend a boost if you don't know what class you might like, that's just going to be super confusing and not fun imo. If you're really just not feeling the story, just start skipping cutscenes, you can fly through the game that way. I went through an entire expansion in like 6 - 8 hours the 2nd time when i skipped all the cutscenes.

i guess so, i just have trouble keeping up with a lot of things going on at once.

Then BLM is definitely not for you. You have to keep track of several things at once while doing encounter mechanics.

I've played Summoner to 90 now, it's very mobile (one spell aside), has flashy spells, and the rotation is very easy, you might want to check that out.

maybe i will, iv'e also been looking at guides for bard, and dark knight, and i especially love how the DRK works.

Machinist would be an easy job to boost if you are looking to boost a job to 80. Dark knights are fun to play, but I wouldn't boost a tank job though, it is better to just start one and play it through dungeons to level especially since you are queuing as a tank you will get almost instant queues and you will learn the class too.

due to some potential spoilers, i would say pick something in a role you have completed role quests for in shadowbringers, also do note should the job have special level 60 armor you want as glamour, you wont be able to obtain it from calamity salvager npc with the exception of jobs that start at 60 like dancer.
