FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Wait this game has only 2k players?
I wanted to try the game out, why are the player numbers so low? I thought there are hundreds of thousands playing every day

oh i wasn't arguing. just saying that some datacenters can be more populated than others so it's a poor example. some servers could have very few, like the oceanic ones not long created. given time they will be more populated sure. but as a metric for an entire MMO just seeing people on your server isn't the best example.
Sorry if my question was blunt. What I meant is... What was the topic about exactly? Hence my questions. The OP wondered if there were 2k or more players. I think the activity of the game proves that there ARE effectively more than 2k players. But yes, some servers will be less populated. I do not claim that all DCs and worlds are equals, Oceania being new itself.

the OP picked probably the worst time to check steam player numbers, seeing as the game was currently in maintenance. basing their opinion of the game on steam player numbers alone leads to flawed opinions from the OP.

you get actually closer to 1/9 of the playerbase. Back in late summer, there was a fairly big poll (some 6k votes, so it's statistically accurate) and said that 30% of the pc users use steam, with the other 70% using mogstation. then there's console, which *is* the larger platform of the two, as the game is pretty big in japan and they have like 0 pc gaming culture.
yeah that was the point i was making

Isn't mmo-population the website that claims Wildstar, a shutdown game, has like what, 1 million players?
Freze Apr 5, 2022 @ 5:00am
In the end as long as are enough player playing so u can do all content it doesn't really matter. My server is still full of players. And the playercount was back in the days way lower.

Here are the real values that you're looking for: 715,000 players online at once everyday.

Why are you lying? This isn't real values. This is all fake. It's all numbers based on numbers taken from sites like Reddit, and random estimates.

If you look at https://mmo-population.com/charts/players they clearly say:

It's difficult to track hidden MMO subscriber numbers, but we do our best. By combining online social activity, sentiment tracking, public statistics, rankings and our in-house algorithm, MMO Populations estimates the total subscribers, players and active daily players for all the top MMO games. Above is the total number of players that we track. As a next step, we suggest looking at the full MMO population list, or browsing to a top game like World of Warcraft.

What the hell is "sentiment tracking"?
Stormy Dawn Apr 5, 2022 @ 7:45am
Ah. We doing this? The ol' measuring our e-peen because "lul this website claims my game has more players" even though no one has an actual accurate metric? Nice. Classy, even.
Rhyagelle Apr 5, 2022 @ 7:52am
No, there's far more. Steam is the minority portion of the player base. Most people play it via Mog Station.

https://mmo-population.com/list

Here for you. For those who don't want to click links:
#1. World of Warcraft: 117.93M
#2. Destiny 2: 39.84M
#3. Final Fantasy XIV: 37.76M

WoW does not have near 118M players. at their peak they may have had 40M, when they dropped below 5M they stopped releasing sub numbers.

those are some wild estimates.

Wow yeah.

This website really is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I literally clicked on WoW for daily tracking and now suddenly WoW has less than 20 players per day on average this month.

How drunk were they when they created this so called algorithm?

i dont think this is very accurate tbh

The only way that is accurate is in registered accounts. Which means absolutely nothing.

Like it got said earlier in the post steam is not the only platform where it running. Probably the lowest part of it.But in the end nobody nows how much active players the game has rn unless square giving information out about it. Aslong as u can do every content still it doesn't really matters.

You know how ads for MMOs always fluff up their numbers to look more populated than they actually are? No MMO has ever made a claim as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as "WoW has almost 120 million users".

Another concurrent player number andy who does not understand that it is not the same as daily unique players.

Also, you can play FFIXV
- steam
- stand alone
- PS4 and PS5

Anyway, nice bait !
