FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Can't connect in launcher
Open launcher and server image is black and "A Connection Error has Occured. Please try again later" shows everywhere.
I have tried all the troubleshooting I have found so far, Firewalls, VPN, IE settings and none of it works. I also can't connect to the FFXIV websites except the Mog Station while I have no problems connecting to other websites.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I am currently getting the same issue. I can not access any square enix web pages either

Apparently Optus users are having issues connecting to FF14. Totally Optus' fault. If you want to access it you need to switch or use a VPN

I can access the websites on my phone when I switch servers on my VPN but not my computer for some reason

Is there a way to play and still have optus without using a vpn?

I re-installed the VPN app on my computer and it's working now. Prolly a problem with the initial VPN install.
Sorry Pando, I tried everything and couldn't get it to work. Only when I had the VPN properly working on my computer did it start working.

I have to use a program called "XIVlauncher" to log in as the FF14 launcher is based on the old Ineternet Explorer browser that is no longer used and automatically upgraded to Edge which doesn't work with the FF14 launcher....

I actually got into an argument with some stupid Square Enix customer support person who kept telling me it's my computer's fault (A brand new Ryzen 5600 build with a 2060 gpu and win 10) and I needed to download IE, so I asked If he had an old copy available for download anywhere since it was a new computer and tried to explain (with proof from Microsoft) that IE is being Phased out and no longer available by June 15 of next year and they should update the launcher rather than force people to drastically alter their computer or download non available programs in order to play their game.

Needless to say, he never listened or answered any of my questions and kept ignorantly insisting it was my computer's configuration fault and I needed to "Upgrade" my Internet Explorer, So without any options to get IE installed on a new computer (as it defaults to Edge), I nearly deleted the game and asked for a refund until I found XIVLauncher and it works flawlessly now with NO VPN and NO changes whatsoever to my configuration.... hope this helps...

I hope that does work and I hope they do upgrade. Customer support is just working off a script and they probably don't know anything about it, it's useless talking to them but it's expensive for the company to engage someone that actually knows what they are doing.

XIVlauncher works just fine without Internet Explorer. I've had it running on Windows 11 since before release, and all we get is Edge.
