Depending on the situation you might be "forced" to tell. E.g. for trans* people that want to participate in voice chat with others in a FC (or fellowship VC if thats a thing) its a quite important matter due to the voice situation.

That is not dependant of the community, but to the people that is in voice chat.

I've seen LGBT FCs advertised before as well as even seen a pride parade.

Most people won't care if you are LGBT as long as you don't go around announcing it or acting like its important for everyone to know. Not everyone will take kindly to you forcing your orientation on them, but I've personally never seen any issues. You could always report any harassment anyway.

I just want everyone to know I am a straight, white male. It's very IMPORTANT that everyone knows this. :P :P

Hence why I don't appreciate those FCs. I'm a Bi male myself, but I wouldn't be caught dead joining an FC that feels the need to shove in my face that they are LGBT friendly. It tells me that they either put way too much focus on an arbitrary label or that they are way too serious about everything and will literally suck the joy out of a room.
