FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Would you report an idle macro user?
I've seen tons of them and with the current situation I just find it extremely rude, especially when they do it blatantly in a public area.

Yeah i would report them since its not fair for the people waiting in queue for hours.
Goldoni Dec 15, 2021 @ 5:36am
It's what you should do
But don't expect gms will do anything
Jethro Dec 15, 2021 @ 5:46am
It's literal gatekeeping so of course it's a 100% report

No. It's the fault of SQ (a 6 billion dollar company) that there are such ridiculous queues in the first place, not to mention disconnecting from the queue itself. I say, once you're in abuse what you can.
God forbid the game be so good that people are willing to get in ques to play it.
God forbid a good game be popular.
And god forbid reporting people circumventing the afk system, which is against TOS.

I get you're frustrated, but if you're gonna be like this, get out and leave your spot for a better person.

Thanks.

I'm paying for a service SQ isn't providing, so I will circumvent their AFK system and disregard their TOS so I am able to use the service that I pay for. Stop placing blame on the customers and excusing a multi billion dollar company for their terrible hardware and stop thinking that macro afkers make an significant impact on the queue and that you still wouldn't be waiting several hours to log in at peak times. Don't project your frustration on to me, I'm not the one who has to be glued to the screen because of a queue.
-"'m paying for a service SQ isn't providing" So are other that your circumventing prevents them from login in
-"so I will circumvent their AFK system and disregard their TOS so I am able to use the service that I pay for": You accepted TOS at entering the game, so abide by them or pray that i do not find you bot afkin cause you will get a ban, and a deserved one
-" Stop placing blame on the customers and excusing a multi billion dollar company ": I'm not excusing anything, i'm calling you a POS for doing what you're doing.
-"stop thinking that macro afkers make an significant impact on the queue and that you still wouldn't be waiting several hours to log in at peak times.": Hey guys! Seat belts do not save everyone, so let's stop using them! That's how you sound.
-"Don't project your frustration on to me, I'm not the one who has to be glued to the screen because of a queue.": Frustration? Dude, i log in first thing in the morning at 10 am with 0 que time and log off at 00 when i'm going bed. If anyone here's frustrated to a point that he's willing to risk a ban, that's you.

Again, let your place to a more respectable person if you're gonna be like this.
You're a disgrace for the community, same as every other macro afk.

Oh yeah.

I've reported people for AFK dodging in one form or another.

Sometimes I don't because I can't realistically tell if they are doing it intentionally or not, but other times it's extremely obvious. Just about anytime I see a crafter or gatherer AFK for any meaningful amount of time, I will report them.

Now if I just happen into a zone, or if I'm in and out quickly, I won't report anyone because things do just happen. Sometimes you are AFK for a few minutes with every intention of coming back in a reasonable amount of time. However, if I'm doing hunts in the area, talking to NPCs, or anything that takes me several minutes to complete and I see someone is still AFK then it's fair game to report them as far as I am concerned.
Caz Dec 15, 2021 @ 6:39am
Should I? Yes.
Would I? No.
Why? Two reasons:
1 - It's a PITA because the report system is not efficient or simple.
2 - The issues we're facing with the servers should have been dealt before 2021.

Technically three reasons, tho... 3 - I don't care.
Nonomori Dec 15, 2021 @ 6:50am
You have to be a real idiot to get caught doing that though. Need to do it while in inn or your chambers or inside your house lol

This is a horrible attempt at an analogy to what he said. The car manufacturer didn't cause the accident and you're not waiting in line behind thousands of others before you can into your car.

Ah, so because you don't work or go to school and you have nothing but free time to be able to login whenever you want, everyone else has the same luxurious privilege as you do. Good to know. I would say you should try logging in during peak hours, but it just wouldn't be the same. You still have all the free time in the world to log in whenever you want so the impact wouldn't be the same, you know you would be able to just walk away and come back during non-peak hours. Meanwhile, adults have jobs and most kids have to go to school, so their hours are restricted for when they're able to play. Since you haven't experienced that and are not experiencing the queues, it's no surprise you wouldn't be able to empathize with those dealing with the logging issues.

He's more respectable due to his empathy than you are. You can't even begin to understand why people would even consider using a macro, nor can you related in any way, because you have the luxury of being able to log in whenever you want. That lack of empathy, regardless of whether you agree with his actions or not, is what is truly disgraceful.

It is a perfectly valid example, since in this case, as it has been stated multiple, and i mean MULTIPLE times, the issue here is not a single "there's not enough servers" There's not enough servers for a reason, covid, the lack of materials for the actual phisical servers, the triplication of players and active population, etc.
Basically out of control situations, same as the accidcent.
i'm am not excusing what's happening, and i do understand people's frustration. Then again, one thing is that i understand it, and another one is me condoning people being total ♥♥♥♥♥.
His use of "macros do not affect que times" is akin to my analogy in a more or less similar way to:
-Hey since macro abusers do not affect times, let's all use it
-Hey since seat belts do not save everyone let's not use em.
see what i mean now?

You might wanna refrain to use passive aggresiveness and knowitallish with people you do not know ♥♥♥♥ about my man... For your own good.

He's the one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ other people with his antics, but somehow i'm the unempathic one here.

You need to go back to ethic lessons my guy.

This is literally just wasting GM time. Do you think they're going to ban people for stepping away from the PC for a while? If they aren't using a macro to dodge the timer, you can't report them for anything.
JagerBombastic Dec 15, 2021 @ 7:23am
Hard to say. I know a guy who's pretty busy and usually has to queue early in an attempt to log in around the same time his wife and kid go to bed all so he can play 1-3 hours on a weekday. Sometimes he gets in earlier than expected and might have to AFK for 30 minutes to an hour. He's not using macros to my knowledge, but given the current server situation I can hardly blame him regardless. Now if it seems like someone is just spending hours or all day in one area with the help of a macro instead of logging off, then ya I can see your point there.

Yeah, that's why i only report the ones that are totally obvious.
Like that guy i found yesterday running up and down in intervals of 10 seconds each movement

Meh.

They can feel free to ignore my reports then. I don't do it very often, and it doesn't really matter one way or the other. If anyone is wasting their time, it is me, but I don't really care.
