This game is hugely story focused so thats why the articles always mention it, thats the main draw of it and where it targets its audience.
Just play a FPS or something if you don't care for story and just want gameplay.
Raiding is straight out of the window for me. Too organized, too high expectations. Especially in MMO's it's always "You play that class? Great! Use the spec we tell you to or don't even bother joining"
Whenever I play MMO's I have the most fun doing crafting based jobs, doing daylies, exploring the world etc. I take things very slowly. And when it comes to the social aspect look at it that way: I also like to go to the city centre I live in irl just to be around people without necessarily havin to interact with them. It's exactly like that. It's just interesting.
Well you will find crafting is actually very good but it is gated behind the story for your vendors etc.
Can I ask tho why not care for the story if you like exploring the world? Alot of the story in this game is exploring each zone you enter and how it ties into the over-arching plot.
care to elaborate a bit more? What exactly do you like about it for example?
just how tightly balanced it is and the combat feels better than any MMO I've ever played
p.s. there is a free trial
It's not that I hate stories or anything, like that "Just play FPS hurr durr" specimen said. I'm just not as receptive to stories in videogames. A great story is always the icing on top and never the main course for me. It's hard to describe. Chances are I would even like the story but it's way more important that the stuff outside of the story itself is to my liking. And that's VERY hard to find out with all the "either you love it or you hate it" people I came across until now.
It is typical mmo. Dungeons, raids, daily quests, crafting, housing. Also something, that from a far looks like pvp.
All progression locked behind main quest line(a.k.a story). You will need to go throu all that quest line, so if you dont give a frak about story it can be veeeery boring. World is static, there is nothing to explore.
Better try ESO, if you ok with its visuals. Much more pleasant expirience for solo player.
