anyway, potential buyers of SE service must be warned.
Which is a real shame too, because FFXIV is the best mmo out right now imo. For them to not be able to keep providing the excellent premium service they have been renown for is a big sad.
All we can do is endure the queues, and hope the 2002 error is resolved soon.
... may i ask how do you know what they tried or not? i cant believe server hardware is like a real unicorn now.
Live letters since June. They've been very vocal on them. Trying to obtain server parts even with higher bids, but unable to. They're competing against giant companies to get chips.
Technology the world is hell for developers right.
Again the 'great WOW refugee crisis' has been happening for years, last time I played that game with in Warlords. They had plenty of time and resources to be ready for this. If they didnt then they shouldn't have sold so many pre-sales!!
Ultimately that's all I'm saying, if when I clicked that upgrade button last week, instead of taking my money they had given me a message saying
'sorry we've out sold current server capacity, more copies will be available next week, we especially advice new players to chill for a bit'.
It wouldn't change a damn thing about my ability to play, i might still be a little bit pissed, BUT ultimately I'd still be on the hype-train waiting for those 'new copies' to drop and I'd still feel like I was dealing with a player focused, honest company.
You seemed to have skipped business class 101. You don't stop (pre) orders because you know you don't have enough inventory/space. Outside of niche products of course. IE: Movie theaters and music concerts. Also if it wasn't clear already, this isn't a video game only problem. Nearly every other company in the history of the world has done, is currently doing, or will (continue) to do this same practice. If you hate it so much, speak with your wallet. I'm sure your 15$ a month will make SE consider otherwise.
Also owner of the largest server infrastructure vs Square who has increased budget two fold and have tried to add new servers if it was not blocked by shortages and travel restrictions.
Because those they've already ordered long before hand. They've been working on this EU server for almost 7 months now. It'll be almost a full year when it finally goes live since they started production on it.
With semiconductors everyone is on a list to get one. Like every other company they have to wait their turn.
Recently took the family to a fun park, we got a pass where you could join a ride queue from your phone, then after how ever long you got a 15min window to turn up and get straight on.
They could do exactly the same sort thing from that app.
There are solutions here, they just need to spend the resources and they won't do that until players demand it.
