Unable to login after 6.0 game launcher update.
I attempted to login to FFXIV and was prompted to update the game launcher. After the update I was unable to login to the game. I am able to login to the Mog Station/Loadstone with my square enix ID and password just fine though so it's not a password issue. Has any had and found a resolution to this problem???

What launcher are you using vs where did you buy the game?

A recent update makes it so you have to use the appropriate launcher.

If you bought via Steam but have been using a custom launcher or the SE store launcher with the -issteam argument, you will have to uninstall that launcher and download the correct launcher from Steam.

Guessing they use the normal launcher as they would've asked for support elsewhere if they used a custom launcher.

Gotta be the normal launcher I guess. So clarifying what OS you are on Jay would be helpful.

I'm was using the original steam launcher and running Windows 10.

Did you update everything on your windows machine? Including IE, that is.

If you disabled IE or some of its functions the launcher could stop to work too.

upon the update, it should have taken you to the set up login launcher, which should have made you link your account with steam locking your username to the launcher..

I don't know if you done this but have you tried closing and reopening the launcher? My launcher crashed after the update so I had to reopen it which lead me to the set up log in.

IE seems to be updated and good to go.

It had been a while since I logged in (when queue times were really high) like a month or so. Then I decided to play again steam updated the launcher but it never asked me to link my account. When I go into the Mog Station my account shows (Steam), from what I understand is an indication that it is linked.

Question, is the one-time password required now? I've seen forums say you should still be able to login if you don't have a token setup.

One time password is not required unless you specifically enabled it, the space for the one time password is always present however.

Hm, I read about people needing to fiddle with the security settings, but I can't recall which thread it was mentioned in. Try to look around for that maybe?

What you think you see is just the fact that SE knows you have a steam license, but what SE did now with "linking steam" is the fact that now you NEED to have steam running to run the launcher.

Maybe you didn't try it yet: try launching the launcher through steam instead (again, if you didn't already).

Op this is an intresting issue, but I am having the exact opposite problem. I originally purchased FFXIV on Square Enix site. Later when it came to Steam, I purchased it again. However the registration code that came with my FFXIV Steam purchase I gave to a friend who used it to register her own account. I just wanted FFXIV at the time to launch from Steam. Now I get the " This service account does not have a valid FINAL FANTASY XIV license for this platform " error every now and again and have to use a program called steam edit to fix it.
