Click forgot ID/password
Keep entering all your email address until you find the right one
SE will either send you a email that says this email is not registered to an account, or you will get an email that says enter this confirmation code onto the forgot password site it redirects you to after putting in an email address
Then you will have your email address that you used, and a chance to set a new password that you wont forget later
You might be SOL. It's your responsibility to maintain your own accounts. If you don't remember what email you used, that's on you.
To elaborate, here's my cool story, bro:
I literally just spent the better part of an hour trying to get into the free trial on my PS4 (because it's a free download, and my current computer is too old to run the game), and I still can't because - I guess - there's apparently just not a formal email and password association set up for the account.
I tried to log into the Square Enix website using my email and the password I set up ahead of time, like 2 years ago (because I use a database, and setting up a labeled entry before signing up is just habitual, now), it doesn't work.
I tried to reset it from the link on the website, using my email address, and it sent me an email with a link to log in through my Steam account.
I logged in through my Steam account, and I could access my Square Enix account info, but I couldn't change the password, because it wants your OLD password. I logged in through Steam, and my Steam password isn't whatever-the-**** my Square Enix password is, but something clearly has to go there, because you can't leave the password field blank.
What's more, the FFXIV sign-up page is apparently a separate login page from the Square Enix website.
I didn't think that it was, at first, until I tried to reset my Square Enix password from the FFXIV login page.
It sent me an email saying that my address isn't associated with a Square Enix account. And when I tried it again, because "no, there's no ****in' way that could possibly be right," it said I need to wait 24 hours before another email can be sent to my address.
So, for shiggles, I went back to the Square Enix login, and tried password recovery, again. Sure enough, I now have an email that says "log in through Steam," an email that showed up after that one that says "you don't have an account here," and yet another email after THAT one that says "log in through Steam."
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If I try to unlink my Steam account from the Square Enix account, it tells me I can't unlink the account I signed up with.
So I'm about to see if I can just delete the account entirely and start over. I started that download the previous night, and I'm kinda ready to play the damn thing. I'm not getting my hopes up, though.
