How to get instruments ?

Today is my second day playing this game and damn i fell love :D i saw cat ear suit guy in uldah city playing electric guitar and there was audience we clapped after every song it was awesome! So it made me wonder how to get instruments, are they only in irl cas shop or can i earn instruments with gameplay somehow ? im lvl 24 only atm :) thanks

You need to unlock BRD, that's about it.

Archer to 30 > pick up the Bard job > performance action quest is across from the Ampitheater in Old Gridania, I believe next to the mail Moogle.

Just wait until you see all the cool stuff people do with this game: costume contests, full on concerts, dance numbers, etc. You'll fall in love all over again every time you see that stuff :)

thanks yea :D this game is so beautiful and the story is nice! rly first mmo that immerses me fully when i play cant wait to get to the expansions and get flying mount.

You don't need a addon to play an instrument, there are a few players that knows how to play the instruments and personally they are way more impressive than those that uses a Bard player, if you play long enough you can end up telling who is using an addon and who is actually playing the instrument.

Majority of people just don't want to take up the time to practice.

I mean, who would when other people could get near the same performance without using time to practice? plus the people who are using bard player are taking away the achievement from those who actually play it therefore making it a waste of time if you want to impress anyone.

I'd only recommend it if you find it entertaining otherwise it's a cheeseboard.

For you maybe, the majority of the plebeian may not.

For instance, i've turned off the performance sound as it just ruins the music I'm currently listening to but if I turned it off, I wouldn't/couldn't tell the difference between someone using outside apps.

Yea i just want to play something of my own. Does it work with keyboard like i press keys and it plays different notes? Also is it possible to use instrument with midi keyboard piano thing :D that would be so cool i own one that i use tly make music with fl studio

Yes, it even has different octave, you can set the keys to however you want it. Not sure about the midi keyboard since I don't own one, I practice using the PC keyboard and change the keys to make it comfortable for me.

Okey thank you for answering :) i will test the midi thing when i get my hands on the instrument at some point :)

You'd need to use 3rd party software to map your MIDI keyboard to keypresses that the game can recognise. Games generally aren't designed to receive MIDI input.
