Data center choice related to problematic behavior?

Ok, I decided to roll an alt out of boredom during the drought before Endwalker a month or so ago, since my main has 530 gear and maxed relics for all the jobs I play frequently and I had run out of things I wanted to do. Seeing as how Aether and Primal were locked I decided to roll on Crystal since it had RT70 on all the servers.

All I have to say is... hoo boy, with the awful behavior in DF duties. Coming from Aether I can count on 1 hand how many time I can remember having someone being really toxic/abusive/disruptive, but on Crystal it seems like it happens at least a few time per week. Like I have had people jump down my throat multiple times in Crystal Tower raids after explaining mechanics so we don't wipe on Ancient Flare, Atomos, Cerberus, Angra, etc or even to speed up Cloud of Darkness when there are clearly half a dozen or more sprouts and/or first timers. Literally calling me an a-hole for assuming people might not know the fights and taking it as a personal insult to their skills. People shading my skill priority on healing spells in leveling dungeons while then proceeding to collect 4+ vuln stacks on boss mechanics. And just generally being aggro ♥♥♥♥♥ in regular dungeons and trials. It's gotten to the point that most of the time now I just don't even bother and ignore the group chat during runs.

That's not even mentioning the WoW-esque vulgarity and memes in alliance chat I see constantly. Have I just lived a sheltered existence on Aether for the last 2.5 years? Or is this something new or exclusive to Crystal DC. I have my hypotheses on why the latter might be the case, but has anyone else had this experience?

I expect that it's due to the massive influx of new players happening while Aether and Primal are both locked down -- so the bulk of said influx went there.

All of that happening so much is PROBABLY why we got the update to behavior standards / account penalties, too -- spelling out the standards for people who clearly need it because they come from an environment that's very different.

Just report them. Not because I think they'll get banned -- they won't be according to the new standards, hopefully -- but because they will get an individual chat with a (notoriously patient) GM that talks about the differences, and I think in a LOT of cases that will help people adjust and help everyone have a better time.

I also don't think it's all the new players and new players alone; the veterans are probably feeling invaded and so are getting defensive and ruder than normal, and it just cycles worse and worse as it goes on.

Been on Crystal since I started playing and I haven't experienced anything like this. And the majority of content I run is through DF.

I didn't want to out-right imply this but... yeah... that is my strong suspicion. I made the comment at one point after getting piled on by like 5 people in Labyrinth after explaining Atomos pads and how to avoid wiping on Ancient Flare that on Aether you get Comms for explaining the fights and mechanics. On Crystal you get browbeat and called a jerk for questioning peoples knowledge of the game.

Aren't all DC's open now? Aether opened back up to standard a couple weeks ago and AFAIK Primal never went on lockdown, just lost preferred status, though I might have missed it while I was on break. Crystal also lost preferred recently.

Yes, all DCs are open now, but not all worlds are open at the same time.

OP is generalizing. I've been on Zalera since I start playing in July and haven't experienced anything like that.

I've seen some pretty nasty behaviors on most servers. I played on and off for awhile. Sometimes starting a new character in a new DC. You will always come across those who are nasty and rude.

Usually during the summer when everyone has more free time to use on this game.

As an actual resident of Crystal Datacenter, I apologize. Not to OP of course, but to the Crystal Datacenter people that had to tolerate this dude lol. Everyone I've been with is absolutely great, and simply have no patience for tryhard elitists, since Crystal is seen as the RP datacenter it is universally chill unless you bring the bad attitude first. 100% of the time. Again, actual Long-term Crystal Datacenter resident(Balmung).

I guarantee you, and again, I stress my much more robust sample size, if you get treated poorly in Crystal Datacenter it's because:

1: You were Rude or condescending first

2: Overly obsessed with "Meta" or the 'Perfect" way to do things.

3: Have no sense of humor/fragile ego

Like do you people honestly believe OP is innocent, if he's having a bad time in the Datacenter that hosts the largest RP and EroRP population? Or do you think it is more likely that OP took his bad attitude into our DC and people just weren't having it?

Btw, I also wanted to mention that "Sprout" status doesn't mean anyone needs your unsolicited advice. I still have my sprout, I have enough Commendation to be a mentor and clear MINE A8S every week with a static, most of whom are also still sporting the sprout.

So instead of assuming everyone is beneath you, how about you simply ask if anyone wants your advice first?

The only way to tell if they are ex WoW players effectively is if they keep talking about raiding or their DPS, the amount of WoW players who have claimed to be on the leaderboard of a European DPS chart is ridiculous. They are so proud of it too.

Yeah that was the case shortly after I started and was trying to get a friend on Sarg, don't think it opened until almost 1 AM. There were at least 3 open when I looked earlier on my initial post in here though, including Sarg.

As of right now (4:30 AM EST) all but 2 across the entire NA DC are available, so it's definitely not as bad as the Asmongold rush (heh).

You're welcome to suggest a better grouping for the ideas that all WoW players talk about DPS constantly or XIV raiders AFK in Limsa all day, but "stereotypes" fits the bill fairly accurately from my perspective. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
