SE chat support. What do you think any of us can do about your lost password here?
And just because you don't understand something doesn't make it "crooked"...
You cannot log into your old service account, you cannot view your characters.
If you purchased the Steam bundle that came with extra subscription time, it will only apply to a "new" service account and support will tell you to ♥♥♥♥ off if you ask for it to apply to your main service account (which is likely the only one you actually had or used).
Welcome to Final Fantasy 14.
Its called a trial for a reason....This is a subscription based game. If you upgrade from the trial then no ♥♥♥♥ you cant go back.
New enough accounts are allowed to play through expansion content for free, when other people that have actually paid for that same content can't access it without paying more.
That's objectively ♥♥♥♥ design, and you know it.
Trial accounts can play the same content but paid accounts aren't subject to the same restrictions. Really bad take.
Uh... wrong.
Depending how far back you're coming from you're existing char will probably be lacking in many since added features. I started over.
Free TRIAL
Not FREE TO PLAY
Subscription based
You already tried and bought the game, you can't go back to free TRIAL.
You want to play up to level 60 without paying a sub but with restrictions? Make a new trial account.
You can whine all you want, nothing will change that, especially not people on this forum.
Remember that it was only a 14 day trial before, isn't it a lot better now?
Then why complain because thay removed the time limit on the trial?
Err... No?
None of your angsty reply changes what I said.
Fresh accounts can play 1-60 without any sort of time restriction whatsoever.
Older accounts that paid for the game and the initial expansion are barred from playing the game period, namely including said content that those players can access for free without ever spending any money if they choose to.
You can argue all you want, nothing will change that.
NOTE: Of course the current trial is better than the first rendition, and better than when it only allowed up to level 30(?). But that's not really what I'm pinpointing, it's the semantic on what they will give people for free and penalize you if you ever invested at an earlier point.
The original defense I heard for how the trial works was "Well it took WoW a few years to make their trial work how it does now, so maybe SE will change it."
Many, many years later and most free trials for the big MMOs don't completely bar previously paid accounts like it is done in FF14.
Free Trial account characters can possess a maximum of 300,000 gil (in-game currency).
Free Trial Players cannot use the "shout," "yell," or "tell" in-game chat options during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot access the in-game market board during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot trade with other players during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot send in-game letters using the moogle delivery service during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot hire retainers during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players can join a Linkshell or Cross-World Linkshell if invited but cannot create a new Linkshell or Cross-World Linkshell during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot create or join a Free Company during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players can join a party if invited or by using the Duty Finder but cannot assemble a party during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot create or join a PvP team or participate in The Feast (Ranked Match) or The Feast (Team Ranked Match) during the Free Trial.
Free Trial Players cannot log into the Lodestone, the official forum, or Companion application during the Free Trial.
Purchasing and registering the game automatically lifts these restrictions, so yes, it makes perfect sense as to why you cannot go back.
Edit: If people were allowed to buy the game, lift the restrictions placed on their account and continue playing as a pseudo-trial account bots would be running rampant even more than they already are.
You're 100% right with the trial having those restrictions.
However, previously paid accounts have more restrictions because they are literally barred from accessing the game period. You are even prohibited from viewing the character selection screen, and I'm certain this is the only MMO that has ever done that.
Correct; If you never purchase the game or subscribe, you can play (with restrictions) up to level 60.
If you purchased the game before or subscribed years ago, you are restricted from even viewing the character selection screen and entering the game at all.
I COMPLETELY realize this is irrelevant if you're a diehard fan, dump money into the cash shop, have bought every expansion, and subscribed for several months/years. Of course it wouldn't be useful for them, they're past level 60 anyways.
This is aimed at the people that played when there was just the base game or when ARR was the only expansion.
So not only does the current system help combat bots, it also makes them money. Two birds with one stone. I'd do the same if i were in their shoes.
