Classic WoW and the upcoming Classic Burning Crusade is not a reinvention if thats what you were referring to. Its a way for people to play the game (almost) exactly as it was years ago. There have been all sorts of changes to WoW over the years. Minor changes, major changes even a lot of removed content. Class changes, gear and weapons, quests, etc. Lots of stuff that you see in classic servers are no longer available on regular servers.
Roll a level 1 caster in classic WoW and you'll notice that after only a few spells you will run out of mana. In retail WoW roll that same level 1 caster class and you wont have the same problem. Mana management was a thing way back then but somewhere along the way devs decided that they did not want mana management to be that big of a thing anymore. Go roll a level 1 hunter on classic WoW and a level 1 hunter on retail WoW. Their resource under their health bar is different. Hunters used to use mana as their resource but that eventually got changed to a resource called "focus" which regenerated a lot faster, much like a rogue/feral druids energy. When they launched the Cataclysm expansion a lot of the Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor zones were revamped. A lot of the geography got changed and new quests were made.
Yeah I was talking about wow reinventing itself not classic wow. Your not really reinventing something you not changing.
Saying that, you could say classic wow is a reinvention of the wow reinvention which would be a invention.
People play games that offer what they want more off just because you dont like one flavour does not mean no one likes it
y0 dawg, i herd you liked reinventions...
For current WoW? yah, over the years they keep adding new systems and taking systems away. Adding - taking - tweaking - breaking and so on. Its the never ending quest to obtain the holy grail of online gaming...the gold plated hamster wheel that keeps us all playing (and subscribed for 14.99 a month) forever.
From an objective perspective, wow is way higher quality than ffxiv. I don't say this to take jab at ffxiv, but wow has such an extremely huge budget and people in the dev team who have all been working in the mmorpg genre for like 20 years.
From gameplay perspective WoW is way easier to get into as a new player, especially by its fast paced combat, satisfying level progression and skill / feature unlocking, which is complete opposite to what ffxiv has, since it focuses on introducing you to the story for 90% of the early game.
I've been playing wow for about 11 years now and just recently started ffxiv but damn the leveling was one of the most boring ordeals I ever had to go through in any game.
No joke, FFXIV is one of the hardest MMO's to get friends into without them quitting early/midway through ARR.
There's various reasons for it, and people love to disregard any criticisms the early game/start has. They've done a "tiny" bit to help, but removing 13% of ARR quests isn't gonna cut it.
And yet the game is still living rent-free in your head.
levelling in wow is so fun i still do it to this day even if it means deleting few of my old inactive chars i used just to level them lol. but to be fair, if wow had a smiliar leveling system, I'd still level through it because I already have strong connection to that universe, so ffxiv fans might feel the same and not find it obnoxious like new players do
Not to mention the constant complaining about "omegacasual content" (Whatever that means) despite also admitting that he had to pay someone to carry him through one of the easiest EX trials in the game.
Same....Love FFXIV but ARR is one of if not THE worst start in any mmo i know.
Yep
people are memeing and calling yosheep things all the time. its definitly allowed to do so.
fanboys just get more butthurt over it here than other mmos i guess. overly sensitive i guess?
In xiv this is just extreme compared to other mmos though. Like literally say or do anything beside sing praise about the game and watch all the dev simps crawl out of their holes to report you
