Can't play free trial

This service account does not have a valid FINAL FANTASY XIV license for this platform or your subscription has expired.

I thought it was just because I had a free trial account on ps5 and wanted to try it on PC. So made another account and get the follow error trying to log in. Yes I am using the free trial download from steam, also tried downloading the windows version get the same error.

I don't remember being sent one, but I had used this account previously. I can see on the account mangement that I have a toon on there, but get the above error

If you bought it before, activated the key or paid a subscription you are not eligible for the trial.
If you have done neither you downloaded the normal client and not the demo / trial client

You need to register your account on different platforms using FFXIV's website, I believe.

Paid or unpaid you've either subbed to the game, used a previous free trial or were part of the Beta all of which means you can't use the newer free trial on that account.

Use a new email address and create a new mogstation account, that's the only way to access this free trial.

I have never paid for it, it was always a free trial as I never got a good chance to see what the game was all about, but yeah might just need to make a new account to give it a go which is a bit of a shame to do
