FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

How do I completely disappear from one's friend list?
So I unfriended this gamer but I didn't know that "to unfriend completely" it has to be mutual. I just don't want someone to see if I'm online / where I am, I want to play the game happily.

Will blacklisting them work? Please help me.

They are not harassing me online, its just--- I just don't want to be involved with them anymore.

This game was made with harassment/bullying as a game feature, so your only option is to delete your account and make a new one, and hope they never found out who you are again. As they can always re-add (you to their list regardless if you accept their request or not) regardless if you like it or not, and repeat the same harassment/bully/being annoying loop til the end of time.

Bullying and sexual/harassment is the cultural norm in Japanese society hence why it's there and why they never intend to do anything to fix it.

The only actual real option is to make them or yourself "disappear" so to speak which is quite popular over yonder. As can be seen with the declining birthrate and all that.

At this point the question might be "Who DIDN'T &#^@ in your cereal?".

I mean "Blacklisting" people does work, or at the very least in ensures you can't see any of their messages anymore.

I used to delete tons of people off of my friends list before, but now it's pretty much as simple as simply not talking to them, it seems to work just fine, even if they do message me. You might think it rude to just ignore someone, but... That is essentially what you're trying to do, so I wouldn't feel any shame in it.

Alternatively, you wouldn't have to delete your account if you didn't want anyone to know who you are. If you go to the Mogstation, and login, under "Additional Services", you can change your name, albeit taking 24 hours to actually apply. This might be enough to fool "Said" person you don't want to get involved with, as you would technically be on their friends list, however, a new name could throw them off. I've had some people change their names over the years, only to walk up to me and say "Remember Me?", to which I reply "no", and then they're like "Oh yeah, I went by this name before".

Again, I'd just personally ignore them, it's pretty difficult to talk to someone who just won't reply back, eventually they'll take a hint. I mean... Nobody is that stupid, or at the very least will keep trying for too long. I suppose I could be surprised though.

AFAIK changing name or realm won't work - you keep your profile ID so you can be found again.
Honestly, you are overthinking this. Blacklist them if they refuse to go away and forget the whole thing. If they try to circumvent the blacklisting - report, should be enough to get them punished.

Thank you for these suggestions and further knowledge. I black listed them. Uhh...hopefully it wont have to come to reporting them.

Blacklisting blocks you from receiving any messages from them. They are essentially speaking to a wall in party and normal chat. Tells don't go through.
Unfriending someone removes you from their friendlist, but they can still see you online if they use the player search feature.
You can still see them in the game world and party up with them or end up in same dungeons with them. It only blocks communication.
But if this person wont leave you alone, then reporting about it as harassment is the right way to go.

Unfriending someone doesn't remove you from that individuals friend list which is what OP is referring to, not the player search although that's another issue.

On a side note, why would you proudly sign yourself as a mentor on a forum?

I got off my butt and went to try this out myself. You actually are correct, thought this was an old problem since I had old folks I haven't talked to in months just vanish off my friendslist, guess I'm just blind lol. Honestly all that OP can do really is blacklist, ignore and if they keep harrassing -> repork. No need to go to such lenghts as to transfer to another data center just because of one creep. If it becomes a real problem leave it to GMs

What comes to the side question. Because I'm proud of the title and intend to live up to it by helping people out the best I can and admit mistakes if I do make some.

One sided stories are always suspicious so just make up your own explaination; OP got parsed and called out after claiming to be best DPS EU.

That's intimate and in the end entirely unimportant. Not willing to interact with someone is respectable and allowable right.

It really isn't that intimate if a post on a public forum was made

And that's why the person didn't ask anything other than how to "Disappear" from someone's friends list.

If they wanted to sum up their life story, or share it, they would have. Why would you want to cause more drama than is needed?

Clearly the matter is private, I don't think anyone needs some sort of sign to slap them in the face to understand this. Just respect their privacy, and move on. If you want Drama go watch something like "Days of our Lives", I here it's still airing, and doing better than ever.
