Combat is slow at low level. Around 50+ is when you really start to see it pick up with most jobs. Some Jobs later on require more brain power to use well.
Games like Eve Online, there is a curv but once you get past the curv the game really picks up.
If I have to leave point B to talk to someone in point C just to have to warp back to point B after less than an 2 minutes of text and 1 minute of running something is every wrong
What's more, while FFXIV is an MMO, it is still a Final Fantasy title, first and foremost, meaning the story is the primary draw. It's the main reason why so many people play it and why a lot of the high end content is totally optional.
Just because I dislike certain aspects of a game doesn't mean I hate the game as a whole, it's not that black and white, I dont mind the monotony of certain parts but if I'm in map A and I have to warp to map B then run over to talk to someone as almost as long as it took to get over there just to warp back to A it feels more of an insult to my time than story purposes if anything.
Unless you find a friends group to do the 'savage' content (which is not hard but most this player base struggles way too much) then you'll be bored at max level. It's why after 5k hours, I gave up, because each update they make things easier, and more content for the bads and the noobs, and less for the veteran players who like a challenge.
Enjoying the leveing up though
There are several charcters outside of the Main Scenario that actually have pretty in depth stories. Just people look at side quests and click though them. Some ARR side quests that actually have a lot of depth at a later point are:
- Edda and her crew's story, the loss of a loved one and her descent into madness thru various dungeons, which is then concluded upon in Palace of the Dead
- Before the Void Ark series in Heavensward, we are introduced to both Diabolos (Lost City of Amdapor) and Ferdiad (Amdapor Keep Hard)
- Brayflox's Longstop Hard introduces the Illuminati goblin group, which later their leader is wanting for more power and to create a paradise. Alexander Raids in Heavensward follows off this
These are a few but the world isn't empty as some see it. There is actually quite a bit of continuity if some actually read instead of clicking and skipping through text.
find it funny someone being super bored with it so easily, i get it for me playing alone it can get like that a lot, but thats why you looking for people to chill with and run dungeons etc. lol for me hard to find friends to play the game with who never had this game before.
Arenvald was also a minor NPC you could see hanging out in the Waking Sands, having been recruited right as you joined. And he ends up being a major companion in Stormblood.
