To not look so pixelated that NES games look more HD?
Let's assume the devs are "too stupid" to label elevations, or that it's "too handholdy" or whatever trash you make up for an excuse.
Hire an intern, or a community member, to do it for free. If your staff is too garbage at 2d simple drawings that they can't make a basic map, feel free to leech the talent somewhere else.
Speaking of rancid, trash, utter nonsense map design: there is a reproduceable, constant bug that the map just doesn't load if you click the arrows leading to different sections. Just. Doesn't. Load. So you gotta back the map out, click on the map from the greater whole. The game has trained me how to overcome this trash bug more than it's trained me to play my class.
If the game was amazing and engaging from the get go the boosts and skips wouldnt make any sense or money because people would actually want to play the game and not skip it
No. I'm complaining about the MAP SCREEN being 15 fps where it gets dragged with your character movement instead of stationary like the mini map.
It has some odd ghosting/flashing bug where it can't remain stationary on the screen at the edges, and that flickering is about 15 fps.
My computer runs max settings 166 fps (because I have 166hz monitor) with additional textures without issue.
(3080)
The map is severely bugged out.
Some crappy Laptop GPU
Quadro
3080
(All three different computers with no parts shared)
Same map issue on all three. Different monitor screens. Different iterations of the game, from
3080 - Trial version
Quadro and Laptop - Steam version
So unless there's a magical setting I'm not seeing, the map screen edges moving back and forth when you're running with it does not appear to be related to one system.
And I can DAMN well say that the lack of resolution on the map is not a system setting issue.
The only thing I can think of, why you guys don't see it, is because this only occurs to maps in pre-expansion areas only? Or that your system settings are so bad that it isn't noticeable to you.
Nice hot take there lmao
I don't even know how you can't calculate the map. Seriously, I get 150 fps regardless of map or otherwise. What are you even talking about? Elevation levels? That is that the lines are for, can you not read a map? Good thing we aren't going into military map levels and orientation, if we did, most of these people would be lost.
... people can't read. Allow me to explain.
When I travel, with the map zoomed in, the map travels with me. It is not smooth. It updates at ABOUT 15 FPS. In the earlier zones around the starting cities, it is VERY NOTICEABLY BAD. I finally got to a new hub at 40, and the map does NOT look 360p anymore by the way. It's like Heavensward brought the map to like 720p ish. They even have elevation shading on it.
So yeah, CLEARLY the early maps near the starting cities are TRASH and still need to be fixed! And also the 15 fps while zoomed in thing also still sucks.
And to REITERATE, this is the MAP'S FPS OF UPDATING, not MY GAME'S FPS WITH THE MAP UP. MY GAME DOES NOT LOWER FPS FROM THE MAP BEING UP. THE MAP UPDATES SLOW! OKAY!!
So yeah, I get why you all "forgot" how bad the maps were because you don't even go to the zones they have problems in anymore, but my leveling experience up to this point was made that much worse because of a map you all forgot existed.
And the updating FPS of the map traveling with you while zoomed in still sucks.
The leveling area I have moved to now has:
GREAT music
The map is no longer 360p, now like 720p
and the plot is actually decent now (major hook, but they are still using fetch quest filler, just less boring and dumb)
Also now that my Summoner isn't gated I'm not hating the game being a stupid worthless Scholar and I LOVE the Summoner. Keep in mind I like playing healers so I'm pretty sure I'll pick up Astrologian and White Mage as well.
For people leveling up Scholar right now, be aware that it may not get a bright future in the next expansion. It's already in an awkward place.
And SCH has to compete with Sage, which everyone and their mothers are gonna be.
I mean, sure they *might* pull a HW AST and have it release criminally underpowered, but I feel like they probably don't want that as its a selling point for the new expansion.
I believe they mentioned and changed how DF interacts with their change for Heal Healers and Shield Healers, DF will never put 2 shield healers in the same party. So chances are, you'll never be seeing SCH *because* everyone will be playing SGE.
AST will still be a good healer, AST were always in Diurnal anyway.
