most boring MMORPG I've played so far...
Im lvl 23, I have no motivation or anything to launch the game other that I paid for the sub.
Its bland and boring in every sense, combat, quest, maps, the way you travel and the story so far...

Playing mostly like a delviery man, bring a bottle of Oringe Juice to Swyrgeim Vesper Bay western coast of Thanalan from Ul'dah.
And there so many of quest like this, nothing but go from point a-b-a
Its just a dead brainer game, I need to switch off my brain for this game to play like a zombie or human bot.
Why this game is so stupidly boring?
Just found a video thats shares exact same feelings that I have
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGy5eVXuLb0

Level 10-20 time 6h
This is the gameplay: travel a-b-a, collect leafs and deliver, kill worthless no brain mobs loop repeat. 6h or doing same thing with different npc and mobs.

After I will review all the comments, I will select a few and you guys will give a feeback like agree/strongly agree/ neutral/ disagree / strongly disagree of other FFXIV veterans statements.
For example: FFXIV is mostly solo play focus.
    -disagree

    New update
Asmongold will try FF14 with NO content skip & boost, I believe he can make more than anyone else a fair opinion/criticism and an observation regarding his experience with FFXIV.

Details in spoiler since it does spoil things for players who may be reading this thread but not that far in the story yet.

1. Purpose of dueling with Hoary Boulder is:

to show the aspiring adventurers what it looks like to fight. To show them Hoary Boulder's and WoL's skills so that they can see them. It's an alternative to the aspiring adventurers fighting Hoary Boulder because they think they're ready. They aren't and Hoary Boulder knows this so he suggests an alternative that he knows the kids will jump on.

2. The Titan quests are:

mostly you proving yourself to the FC that defeated Titan the previous time that you are strong enough and smart enough to defeat Titan. Because they don't want to give up the secret to reaching Titan to someone who isn't at all capable of defeating Titan. They didn't want the death of the WoL to be on them because they gave someone who wasn't capable the information on how to get to Titan. They did however, trim some steps in this set of quests with the quest trimming they did with 5.3.

As for the part before that, it's because you meet that character again and at that second point, he's comic relief. But he's only comic relief if you're already aware of his tendency to lie about defeating primals.

Honesty I thought the same thing with Hoary Boulder but the storyline does a pretty good job conveying your "herodom" before and as well as after, at least I think so, so much that it becomes a running at joke in certain circles idk... I would have preferred an info dump from Elidibus or some more sceen time from any of the antagonists, but it is what it is.

As for titan I understand the why of it just why so much fillier being tested is one thing what we got...was another.
levi was just as dangerous but the build up was half as long but like you said it was trimmed but still the amount of actions could get trimmed down a bit more and still not lose the same "oomf" I suppose.

Shadowbringers is probably the best storyline out of the 3 unanimously not a coincidence theres barely any filler or over exerting actions in it

Honesty I would like to discuss more about the story and at least get a new understanding at least from someone with an opened mind but ♥♥♥♥ it I'm drained from all of this

well put OP the gameplay loop in a nutshell across multiple expansions. You are a god in this game, the god of fetch and delivering messages. you can really skip it all and as long as you don't lack the imagination to see your character standing silent in a cutscene you'll be fine.

However the gameplay imo is great which is what has drove me to play thousands of hours on multiple accounts. But if you don't like either might be good to move on. Due to the constant pruning the abilities are very spaced out so things don't come together till much later in the game.

Who buys multiple accounts instead of just making a second character?

Oh right, exactly one type of player. And SE posts posts how many of them they've banned.

Fetch quests aren't really a thing in the main story past ARR, stormblood has a bit of "Let's help the villagers trust us" section but at least it was justified by the story why you were doing chores when you are the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warrior of light, in contrast to WoW in which you will go from slaying dragons to pulling weeds in the main quest chain for little reason, and somehow both warrant similar gold rewards.

Yes you're the Warrior of Light, but like. You're also a glorified merc with a pretty name. Slaying Primals occasionally doesn't pay for anything.
You have a constitutional right to be wrong.

honestly not gonna lie, some parts could have been streamlined better, hell even with the latest story update

If I have to leave point B to talk to someone in point C just to have to warp back to point B after less than an 2 minutes of text and 1 minute of running something is every wrong

Cant risk making the lvling fun so people stop buying boosts and skips in the cash shop.

The leveling will stay garbage and only get worse with each expansion as has been the case so far. Imagine leveling from lvl 1 to 90. sweet mother of god

I literally have to replace my keyboard every expansion due to my escape key breaking from skipping so many cutcenes

You should look up what the world literally means.

Go back to Retail WoW scrub. The main quest is a final fantasy story. Maybe if you actually tried to enjoy the main story instead of constantly skipping cutscenes you would realize that the leveling experience (at least for your main class) is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. This isn't like Retail WoW where they want to rush the leveling as fast as possible so they can sell you the latest expansion to get to whatever raid tier that will be deleted in 2 years (along with half the new features lol). This is more like Vanilla WoW where leveling and progression actually feels rewarding outside of raid tiers. In fact, the leveling, the story, and the quest design of the main quest has gotten better each expansion. And unlike WoW, Square isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at storytelling.

Yes you're the Warrior of Light, but like. You're also a glorified merc with a pretty name. Slaying Primals occasionally doesn't pay for anything.
The point is that the stories of your deeds feel like they spread where it is realistic they spread to, at least in the context of the main quest. One of the main benefits of this being an MMO with the story structure of a Final Fantasy game is that they can have that linear heroes journey, and then through patches explore the aftermath. Your character can be counted among the strongest in the realm and it feels that way. You are regularly meeting with leaders of various governments and other high ranking officials. Whenever there is an epic battle, you are participating by choice or necessity, not by orders, and when you do you are placed in the group taking on the biggest baddest ♥♥♥♥♥ in the castle. The only times you are shoe shining is in places where it makes sense that your fame hasn't reached and it is believable in story terms that you want to win the good will of the people.

Or, you know, you just want to make some side cash. :V Both work. It's nice your character still has a day job with everything is what I'm getting at.
Really not sure why some people are getting so upset/aggressive in here. Like FFXIV is far from perfect? It does some good stuff (it's cutscenes, instanced content, etc) and it also does some pretty bad stuff and the leveling experience and the questing (outside of cutscenes) ARE pretty brutal and yes in a lot of cases, boring.

Not sure why this is so controversial.
Honestly MMOs are all like that... dragged out fetch quests. How else bind people for years.
As someone who just did a little bit of Heavensward and then unsubbed a few days ago, I just have to throw my hat in here.

I didn't find it "boring" per-say, but it's aggressively unfriendly to people coming in wanting to play with friends who have been playing much longer than them.

I finally had to unsub when I looked at the MSQ quest list and saw I'd be playing by myself 90% of the time and get to do content with friends/other people only about 10% of the time.

I mean, like. What did you think you'd do with friends even if you were playing at the same time? The MSQ isn't exactly group content.
