Won't let me review so I guess I'll say it here - new player experience

I guess because I'm using the free trial it won't let me review? Well just got to say I'm glad I tried before I bought it - it's a really frustrating and poorly designed game for new players. Progression being gated behind the woeful Main Story Quest content is my main reason for dropping it - I'd be quite happy ignoring it and doing my own thing, but thou must. Terrible design. Even worse, a lot of the main story content that is MANDATORY to progress through the game forces you to use the duty finder system. Hope you picked a healer or tank or else you;re looking at a 20+ minute wait just to get to the next main story slog. Yes, you can change jobs to find a group quicker - is it good design to require that for mandatory progression? No, just let people play what they want! I can understand gating end game content this way, but what incentive is there for people to be running these dungeons outside of the beginner main quest story? I just don't have the patience for it., especially when the reward just doesn't seem to be worth it. Those gripes aside, it really is just a standard mmo that doesn;t really do anything interesting or new - I;ve seen it all before. I'd be fine with that honestly if I could just get on with it and play the way I want to play - I'm in the mood for something familiar - but the game forces you to suffer through this. Maybe the game gets infinitely more enjoyable once you overcome this hurdle? But ah well, I just don;t have the patience to make it that far, and what I;ve seen so far doesn;t entice me to pay a subscription fee for something that might be better. Such a shame as FF11 was a really unique and creative game in comparison - an endless amount of things to do right out the gate. FF14 is just a little too curated - it's like a month long tutorial before you actually get to play. More power to you if you enjoy this game, but the new player experience is woeful.

WoW does have a bad story and it's mainly because they cannot decide on Peace or Alliance vs Horde which always has Alliance as good guys while they have the Horde claim they're good while committing countless war crimes which never gets addressed.

But the main issue? Blizzard's love for Sylvanas.

The amount of absolute BS Blizzard has done to try and justify her horrible actions after the fact is hurting the WoW Storytelling a great deal. There's no reason for it other than Blizzard being absolutely bad at writing strong female characters WHO DON'T GO CRAZY due to "Emotions" because Blizzard has Men writing all their Female characters so they use that negative stereotype. That and the Forsaken literally has no one but her as their face as Blizzard never built anyone up but her and their self-insert Simp who simps for her.

Back when i played WoW our biggest problem was Christie Golden's "stories" they were garbage and the fact that the lore which was supposed to be in the game itself was "explained" in books was ridiculous, tack on the fact the entire staff at blizzard is more concerned about pleasing the masses instead of focusing on the people that bother playing it and you have activisionblizzard.

I seriously doubt the guy even believes what he's saying, he's just hitting the red button for a reaction. This sort of behavior disappears much more swiftly if you don't engage with it. I'm as guilty of getting trolled as the next grandma, but when it's THIS obvious I like to think I have some self control.

eta: y'all are dealing with the sort of person that spawn camped in WoW and called it a good strategy. There is no conversation or discussion, just mean. If you click on the little arrow beside someone's name, you can go 'view profile'. Go through, and on the person's profile, there's a block all communication button. This will hide their posts, which makes it easier to remind yourself **not to reply**.

The links are posted, the proof is there, and that should be all the reassurances anyone needs: this isn't changing. YoshiP is going to keep giving us what he's been giving us. Steam forum screaming about how awful it is **has no effect, and is no threat**. It's not the dominant narrative, it's not the majority, and literally no one reading his posts that isn't equally as trouble-stirring is going to think that he's got a point. You don't have to reply, you don't have to get the last word.

Just have some tea. I SWEAR that the less you feed him, the faster he will go away.

First of all, the long queues you can easily fix. If you go to duty finder and press the setting icon just select "E, D, J, and F". making the queues go faster. And another thing is, guilds exist meaning you dont even have to wait for a queue and you can just ask your guild members. And the mandatory story? You can easily just buy a lvl boost up to 70. The story is mandatory so you can understand whats going on. Its like that in a lot of mmo's for example: World of Warcraft.
