Female Hrothgar

Hello, folks!

Asking here, since I'm on a free trial and, apparently, they can't log into the official forum - which I get otherwise spam bots would be everywhere. My question is if we have any estimate on when female Hrothgar will be available? Admittedly, I decided to try the game when I randomly saw an announcement from a blog that they were being made. From my understanding it will be after the next expansion (around November?) Which will include the male Viera. Do we know if it will be like 1-2 patches down the line? Or maybe a few months?

I'm currently playing as a female Roedygan, since I still wanted to see if I even like the game - currently doing Thaumaturge, though I wanted Astrologist and even GunBreaker since they seem to be a racial class for the Hrothgar, or have history in it - and am only around level 10 or so and it seems standard MMO fair but with good cutscenes, glad my character is actually in then even if they are a silent protagonist in then.

Other than the estimate of the arrival of the females, any advice to give? Divine Someone offered me hear before she that's when I realized the restrictions fur the trial, no PMs! So if that person is around, sorry! Couldn't respond! But I looked more into it so know I can't trade or use the market, so wouldn't have mattered anyways.

Noone knows when, or if female hrothgar will come out. For your information though - you get a phial of fantasia in the end of ARR 2.0 questline, it's an item that allow you to completely remake your character when used.

It's later, rather than sooner -- it was talked about recently in...gosh, one of the interviews or something, there's been a lot lately -- but they had the choice between "no races", halfassing both male Viera and female Hrothgar, or addressing them one at a time and doing the full job. They chose to go the final route, and release the male Viera with this expansion.

I'm unclear whether this means the female Hrothgar will be in a later patch, or if it will actually be waiting until the next xpac. I **suspect** it's the latter of the two, given the language around it, but I don't think there's been a statement about this.

tl;dr -- you're probably looking at a year+ for the female lions, but it will be SUPER easy to change once it does hit.

As far as new player tips (sorry, this is sort of a canned reply, but I always forget something when I don't just c/p):

For effective leveling your first 80 job/class that will not grind you to death:
Do only MSQ, Class Quests, Hunting Log, Fates, Levequests, Roulettes (including PotD if you like it, skip it if you don't), and Unlocks That Seem Fun for XP (minions, emotes, hard dungeons you liked the regular one)
Do Crystal Tower as soon as you have access
Save side quests for alt jobs
Save non-MSQ dungeon hard stuff unlocks for your endgame

**DO NOT** do ancient endgame content -- that means not at level 50 (except Crystal Tower), 60, OR 70. No relic weapons. No beast tribe completions (do the quests in the 40s if you need the XP to boost you, but DO NOT try to finish their rep after you outlevel, until you're done with MSQ).

When I observe people to fall off / give up / get bored and wander away, it's 95% of the time because "I just want to get my relic weapon" or "I'm trying to finish the beast tribe before I go on". That content was developed to give folks something to do when they ran out of MSQ. Doing it BEFORE you actually need it...oof.

The leveling advice is appreciated. I read a few folks say to level 2-3 classes at a time, so want to sure. But that does make sense, even just at level 10 I'm already out leveling some side quests. So it makes sense to skip then and continue the main quest. I haven't even done my level 10 class quest, yet...

If you get to max level (it might not be all the way to 80 it kicks in, idk for sure) on your main class, you get a bonus while leveling the other (combat) classes.

I'd recommend against 2-3 at the same time because burnout is real. Just save the side quests for those other jobs -- it's great to have them for when "my next MSQ step is a dungeon I don't have time for tonight".

They literally said they were dong female Hrothgar when they announced male Viera, they just didn't say when. They said that they're doing both, but to get things out faster they're putting them out one at a time.

They could come out sometime during Endwaler's patches, probably 6.3 or with the 7.0 expansion is my guess.

I haven't heard anything about that, but that would be cool of them if that is the case. Except for SE not offering any compensation if true lol.

The original reasoning was for, "Final Fantasy Lore" reasons according to an interview with Yoshi-p. The Viera were to be Female only and the Male only Hrothgars were to be the so called "counter-part" for male characters

Apparently some devs used that 'down time' to make up the Male Viera. They were still paid to work, it's just they had the option to work on something since they were 'caught up'.

Regardless of that though: Since it will be probably a whole year, maybe I should make an alt and when the Female Hrothgar come out I could just start over on her? I doubt I'd remember the beginnings of the story after that long... Alternatively I play a new character and if I stick with just the one I can just use the fantasia to swap the race and, basically, 'remake' the character. I'll admit, the Female Roe was a lplceholder for anticipating the Hrothgar, so wouldn't be RPing or anything with her until they came out...

There's a thing called New Game+ where you can revisit chapters that you've already completed; if you need a refresher for parts of the story, it's probably easier to do that after the fantasia use then go through everything a second time. Plus, that way you can skip the post ARR pre Heavensward content. >.>

Yes, this was recent, as in Fanfest recent. It has been confirmed that it will be happening, they just haven't given specifics on when--they did tell us that they wanted to be able to do it right, which is why they didn't do Both At Once. YoshiP was against it originally, and said outright that staff changed his mind.
