Why say “GG” after awful performance?
Look, I understand that community in this game is super friendly, helpful and nice in every aspect you can imagine, but really, typing “GG” in party chat after numerous deaths, poor performance and another stressful run is just ridiculous. I mean, either way people do this automatically, on exit, without paying much attention or they just want everyone to sense irony in their words.

If it was a bad run, dont try to reassure other people that it was actually OK. Sure, you dont want and you dont have to start blaming someone in your party before exit, but try to make them understand they can do better than that.

Maybe it's just my cynical experience in MOBAs, but usually saying "GG" after bad performance is used ironically and full of sarcasm and spite.

Yeah, although since majority of players in X|V is not even close as toxic as usual audience of MOBA games, I believe only a few people here type that with sarcasm.

I haven't even gotten to the dungeons, yet, so wouldn't know. I hear a mix of the community being friendly and unfriendly, so I don't know the intent, but I can back what you initially said.

Mostly I think people type 'gg' or 'tyfp' out of habit. Doesn't matter if it was a good run or a bad run, they just do it. Might even have a macro for it! Would explain a lot.

It does make me raise an eyebrow to see someone say a run was good when it very, very clearly wasn't. But eh, not like it hurts anybody. Better lazy kindness than active hostility, y'know?

It's called being a good sport, or showing proper sportsmanship. Just like in Baseball or Basketball, when your team gets steam rolled no matter how well or poor the team played, you still line up and say GG to each other. Don't be a LeBron and "head for the locker-room" just because you think things didn't go the way you wanted.

GG because be nice to your fellow gamers. Its like a virtual fist bump. Too much hate in IRL.

Did you finish the dungeon, despite the difficulties? That seems pretty gg to me. It's not my job to make anybody understand they could do better. Why would it be, should it be? Especially in the context of the end of a dungeon run.

Nah, being an arsehat to somebody isn't a public service.

Because it's a video game, not a job, no reason not to end an instance on a positive note.

Yeah op is just being toxic.

Probably because people want to remind everyone that it was an "awful performance". Or maybe because they were trained to be fake-nice over the years. Or maybe because they're actually glad that their team managed to overcome the challenge and perhaps learned something in the process. Seeing how turd-flinging and tank/healer blaming precedes it - its usually out of toxcity, so 1st or 2nd variant hehe.

It's ok to give a pat on the back even during a failure. You don't motivate people to try harder next time if you call them out or make them feel like they can't do it by giving a insult to the party due to poor performance.
It's an mmo, you hit your head into the wall enough and you can clear anything regardless of ability. It's usually the bad players who get toxic because they're not good enough for decent statics so they're stuck with public/pf and blame others.

For me it's about good sportsmanship. I mean we did it, we wiped about 8x titania normal but we manage to pull through. And no one raged quit (looking at you healers with your insta ques :p )

It better than, guys you suck, hope we never ever be partied in roulettes again.
