Why is it so dead?

The game has a large playerbase. Alot of players online, but the chat ingame is so dead. Like for real, nothing is happening. I played a different mmo which has alot less players but the chat was full of life.

Why is that? Been online for about 30 min in one of the cities, but the chat is still dead.

Most people write in their linkshells and guild chats, we (thankfully) dont have a General and Trade chat like, say, WoW.

People in this game doesn't spam global chat. During peak hours, I get people talking locally in big cities.

Because being alive is not spam linking an item in Trade Chat.

Most discussions happen in party, fc, and linkshell chats. Sometimes people talk in direct chat and shout at golden saucer events. This game doesnt have global or trade chats, personally its better that way. Only thing i dont like is luck of chat bubbles.

yeah like everyone is saying most people are talking in link shells and in FC and in party local chat some times is active deepening on what sever you on and were you are in the world

yeah their 3 main chats people use. Free Company with their main group, Linkshells for what ever clicks they are in like hunt trains, raiding groups, roleplay, etc. The last being the Novice Network, while some of the novices do use it for support, Most them I seen use it as a World chat.

I know what you mean. I thought the game felt very asocial and lonely... until I got invited into a "Free Company" (Guild). People use the guild-chat as default, and so do I. People are so helpful and friendly, specially within the guild-chats. Would recommend.
